Splash Mountain Trends on Twitter as People Get Really Weird

What is driving people to act in such a childish and profane way about a theme park attraction? Is it social media or is it the harshness of today’s conversations?

Splash Mountain has been trending off-and-on for the last twenty-four hours or so. But rather than trending on Twitter for normal reasons, it seems there is a war on the social media platform and it’s gone in some of the most bizarre directions. It’s hard to describe without just showing the tweets.

Listen, I don’t know really what to make of people who are telling others to unfollow them over a theme park attraction disagreement. If you’ve made a major crux of your life be a retheming of a theme park attraction, you’re not mapping out reality in the best way. There are actual, real atrocities happening in real life. People have cancer, there’s genocide, babies need loving parents, etc. I think retheming Splash Mountain is a dumb idea that could hurt the domestic Disney Parks for a decade — but I’m not going to remove people from my conversations for thinking otherwise. And calling people all sorts of awful epithets for having an opinion on a log flume? C’mon… it’s grow up time.

I’m not sure if all of this being bloated enough to trend is indicative of a human problem or a problem in the way Twitter makes people behave. Either way, people shouldn’t be stooping down to the level where they’re acting in ugly manner over such a thing.

Luckily, Fake Disney Facts knows whatΒ really is going on with Splash Mountain… and in leaking the information early, they may just help us all unite around something everyone apparently loves:

It’s a minion world and we’re all just living in it.
