Stan Lee Tribute Removed from Disney+

Spencer Baculi of Bounding Into Comics is reporting that “in memoriam” tributes for Stan Lee and Reg E. Cathay have been removed from Disney+. At this time it is not suspected that ill-will for either person is cause of this unfortunate edit. Disney has previously claimed a “mistake” was made in editing out other Disney+ Marvel series content. Perhaps this is another “mistake”. From Mr. Baculi in an article we highly recommend:

Not even a week after Disney was found to had “accidentally” uploaded an edited cut of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s third episode and less than a month after it made the leap from Netflix to the company’s signature streaming service, it has now been discovered that the versions of The Punisher and Luke Cage currently available on Disney Plus have had tributes to Stan Lee and Reg E. Cathay, respectively, edited out of their final episodes.

Though we give everyone at The Walt Disney Company the benefit of the doubt with this situation, it sure is an odd thing to have removed. We’re not sure exactly how or why this would occur. Is it a case of unintended consequences in some sort of company-wide directive for tributes inside Disney+ content? We have no answer as of yet, but we do hope they will restore these tributes. Both these fellows certainly deserve to be remembered often and kindly.

C’mon, Disney — let’s get this one fixed fast!

Here’s to Stan Lee and Reg E. Cathay and the good they did in their lives! Let’s emulate the very best they embodied when they were at their very best.
