Three Star Wars movies are alleged to be announced at Star Wars Celebration in London. There’s just one problem — it doesn’t seem like any of them are on track at the moment!
We’ve heard all sorts of troubles are about when it comes to Lucasfilm and the pre-production of various Star Wars films. Kevin Feige’s project is reportedly canceled. Takia Waititi has said he has basically no idea what is going on and that it’s all rumor that he is appearing or directing or writing one. Lindelof and crew just left their Rey return and the movie is reportedly being handed off to a new team. But as far as we can tell, none of these films is anywhere near production. We’re not even sure a single Star Wars movie on slate has a script finished!
Yeah, that rumor’s about three years old. All I’ll say is God forbid I make a Star Wars film about people sitting on mountains playing flutes…
— Taika Waititi, The Direct
Yet in spite of what appears to be chaos behind the scenes, Lucasfilm is reportedly going ahead with the announcement of not one, not two, but three Star Wars films. If you thought they were going to be doing a setting of the sun or mea culpa theme, think again. And now, we just have to wonder: how many of these films are actually going to materialize in the future? And if so, just how long will we be waiting?!
According to a new report from industry insider Jeff Sneider of Above the Line and The Hot Mic, Lucasfilm plans on announcing three Star Wars movies at this year’s Star Wars Celebration. Sneider did not reveal which projects would be announced but you can see that tweet below:
Call us cynical but perhaps hopeful as much as is possible. At least we can count on Rian Johnson not being involved, right?

Lucasfilm announcing movies and shows is becoming a running joke now.
Could be a refocused trilogy, maybe on Ezra and Thrawn? I’d be OK with that.
