One show has just shattered records for domestic streaming. Watch out, Eleven — you’re part of the hottest property on Earth!

If there’s one group of people out there celebrating this Fourth of July, it has to be Netflix and the Duffer Brothers. In the second week of Stranger Things’ fourth season, the show set a record for domestic minutes-watched according to Nielsen. Blasting by everything else, Stranger Things captured more than seven billion minute of watched content.

We have waited until the second week results to draw any conclusion about the popularity of Stranger Things versus other streaming shows like All American, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. You see, the first week of Stranger Things you could reasonably argue that some of the ratings were being pulled by fans trying to catch up on earlier seasons. By the second week of its new season, however, that possibility shrinks considerably. At that point, it seems likely that the vast majority of minutes were due to viewers tuning into the first seven episodes. That’s why this second week statistic is even more impressive.

Here is the top ten of all content for that week from Nielsen:

Pos., Platform, Title, Minutes Watched (in millions)

1 Netflix Stranger Things 7,203
2 Netflix All American 1,253
3 Netflix The Lincoln Lawyer 966
4 Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi 958
5 Amazon The Boys 949
6 HBO Max Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore 758
7 Netflix NCIS 692
8 Netflix Ozark 644
9 Netflix Cocomelon 615
10 Netflix Criminal Minds 558

Clearly there are three properties this summer that are far more popular than anything else. Top Gun Maverick is continuing a hold in theaters that rivals Avatar and Titanic. Minions: The Rise of Gru just set box office records for Independence Day Weekend. And now we know that Stranger Things literally blew away every domestic streaming record you can imagine. Those are your big three for the summer of 2022.
