UPDATE: The Ghost of Yotei trailer was added to X several hours after this article was posted. The YouTube dislike ratio on the official PlayStation channel reached 12k likes to 20k dislikes as of this writing.
The controversy surrounding Sucker Punch Productions is not going away. Just days after reports surfaced that senior developer Drew Harrison was fired following her celebration of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the studio has dropped a brand-new trailer for Ghost of Yotei. But fans immediately noticed something unusual: while the Ghost of Yotei trailer has been posted to YouTube and Bluesky, it has not been shared on X, one of the largest gaming discussion hubs on the internet.
Grummz Calls Out Sucker Punch
Industry veteran and outspoken critic Mark Kern (Grummz) flagged the move.
The new Ghost of Yotei trailer has been posted everywhere except X.
Neither @playstation or @SuckerPunchProd have posted it, but it is on Bluesky and YouTube.
They are basically telling all gamers on X that they are not welcome and trying to sweep everything under a rug.

“The new Ghost of Yotei trailer has been posted everywhere except X,” Grummz reported. “Neither @playstation or @SuckerPunchProd have posted it, but it is on Bluesky and YouTube. They are basically telling all gamers on X that they are not welcome and trying to sweep everything under a rug.”
Grummz continued, saying, “They have not addressed or released a statement about their developer mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination. We don’t need to boycott every game to send a message, just start with this one which launches next month.”
His comments reflected a growing frustration among fans that Sony and Sucker Punch are attempting to sidestep accountability for the people they hire.
The Drew Harrison Charlie Kirk Scandal
The backlash began when Drew Harrison, a senior lookdev & texture artist who had been with Sucker Punch for nearly a decade, mocked Kirk’s killing on her personal Bluesky account.
One of her most widely shared posts read, “I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back.”

She also reposted commentary calling Kirk a “ra**st bigot” who died “doing what he loved.”
After fans began tagging Sucker Punch and Sony, Harrison updated her LinkedIn to show her employment ending in September 2025. On Bluesky, she admitted losing her job, saying: “If standing up against fascism is what cost me my dream job I held for 10 years, I would do it again 100x stronger.”

Neither Sony nor Sucker Punch has confirmed the firing or issued any statement addressing the incident.
Is Sucker Punch Trying to Hide?
Now, with the release of the latest Ghost of Yotei trailer, many fans are interpreting its absence on X as a deliberate attempt to dodge the ongoing backlash.

On YouTube, the trailer has been promoted widely through PlayStation’s official channel. On Bluesky, the trailer has been shared despite that platform’s much smaller user base. But on X, where criticism of Harrison’s posts has dominated headlines, there is nothing.
This absence has only added fuel to the fire, with fans accusing Sony and Sucker Punch of hiding from the very audience most affected by the scandal.
The Bigger Risk
Skipping the Ghost of Yotei trailer on X may have seemed like damage control, but it risks alienating a massive segment of the gaming community. X remains one of the primary platforms for gaming news, fan discussion, and trailer sharing. By leaving it out, Sony and Sucker Punch have seemingly confirmed to critics that they’re aware of the controversy — and unwilling to confront it head-on.

The optics seem clear: instead of transparency, fans see evasion. Instead of addressing the issue, fans see silence.
Final Thoughts
The Ghost of Yotei launch should be a celebration for Sucker Punch. Instead, it’s becoming a case study in how not to handle controversy.
From Harrison’s inflammatory posts, to her apparent firing, to Sony and Sucker Punch’s refusal to comment, the studio has now added a new layer of distrust by keeping their biggest new Ghost of Yotei trailer off X.

The result? More fans are questioning whether the game is being used as a platform for activism rather than a continuation of Ghost of Tsushima’s legacy.
Until Sony and Sucker Punch face the issue directly, SuckerPunch Charlie Kirk will continue to trend alongside Ghost of Yotei — and no amount of selective trailer posting will make that go away.
