Actress Rachel Brosnahan, known for her role as Miriam Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Rachel Posner in House of Cards, recently discussed her upcoming role as Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy while walking the red carpet at the Golden Globes.
When asked, “What are you going to bring to the Lois that we haven’t seen?” Brosnahan replied, “We’ve been having a lot of great conversations, David [Corenswet] and I, with James Gunn, the director. And we’ve been talking a lot about where this project fits into the canon of the ‘Supermans’ that we know. So hopefully this will, we will be putting our own stamp on things.”
When asked if Lois will wear glasses, she replied, “I don’t know actually. Maybe. We haven’t gotten that far in the fittings yet.”

Brosnahan’s comments come after actress Phoebe Dynevor, who lost out to Brosnahan in the casting process for the role of Lois Lane, told Variety, “[Lois Lane] saves Superman. She’s the brains; she’s actually the fearless one.”
It’s unclear whether that’s what we can expect from Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy or not, it’s clearly what Dynevor experience during the casting process.
As for what we can expect from the film, Gunn detailed in the official slate announcement at the end of January last year that the film would be “the true beginning of the DCU.”
His DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran said, ” It’s not an origin story. It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Superman represents truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned.”
Gunn also relayed on X back in March 2023 that the film would center “around Superman’s heritage – how both his aristocratic Kryptonian parents and his Kansas farmer parents inform who he is and the choices he makes.”
Then a bit less than a year ago I saw a way in, in many ways centering around Superman’s heritage – how both his aristocratic Kryptonian parents and his Kansas farmer parents inform who he is and the choices he makes.

The film won’t just be featuring Superman and Lois Lane, but it will also feature a number of members of the Justice League. Nathan Fillion will play the Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi is playing Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced is playing Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan is playing Metamorpho.
The film will also feature Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. There are also reports that the film will feature a number of characters from the superhero team The Authority.
