The Following appeared first on the all new Geeks + Gamers website.
That Park Place is proud to announce on Geeks + Gamers that we are joining forces to bring you even more news and coverage, with a heavy dose of 199 thrown in.
A Brief History of That Park Place
That Park Place was founded in 2021 to cover theme park news, travel, and entertainment and be the home of scooper W.D.W. Pro. As the largest and most powerful media companies on the planet lost their collective minds, the mission of That Park Place to cover “All The News That Should Be Fun” quickly became embroiled in the culture war.
Scoops and analysis from W.D.W Pro were cited by Breitbart, The Daily Wire, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Tim Pool, and many more. At the prodding of our good friend Valliant Renegade, we added YouTube to the mix, and we’re proud to say that our largest channel recently hit 200,000 subscribers in only a few years.
As the site grew, we collaborated with more creators, writers, and journalists, like our now Editor in Chief, Marvin Montanaro. Marvin is a written word content production powerhouse, finding himself cited by not only some of the sources referenced above, but also Forbes and even The White House. No joke.
That Park Place x Geeks + Gamers
When we started talking about a collaboration in late 2024 and early 2025, everyone involved knew that if this worked, it would be huge. At times, we had to stop ourselves from talking about what this will end up being and focus on what we have in front of us today: The Geek + Gamers website relaunch.
The entire team here is dedicated to bringing the 199 community and beyond the go-to hub for entertainment, pop culture, sports, and gaming. We’ve got stiff competition in that arena from the IGNs, the Polygons, and the ScreenRants who work hand-in-hand with the big entertainment companies to tell you what to want. That is not how it is going to go on Geeks + Gamers. And, unfortunately for them, that stiff competition might also have rigor mortis.
What’s Changing
As you can see if you are a longtime Geeks + Gamers reader, this site has a complete redesign. I think it looks pretty cool. The forums are still there, and we’re working on ways to make them even better in the next short while. Ryan Kinel stole an awesome idea that we can’t wait to show you.
That Park Place is sending over some members of our team that love to cover All The News That Should Be Fun, but now, we get to branch out into all those topics that don’t quite fit on a website that was supposed to be covering just theme parks and Disney films. As Jeremy told all the 199 Locals supporters yesterday, we’re also going to be covering the things that happen in our corner of the Internet. When AZ drops an epic rant, and the old media and shills want to put their spin on it, Geeks + Gamers now has the resources to respond with what actually happened.
When Critical Drinker drops a video, when Rippaverse has a new campaign, whenever Jay and Xwing finally release Daughter’s Revenge, we will be covering it alongside the old media. And yes, we will also be covering new and upcoming names in the space as we can. There’s also this partnership with Criticless and I don’t think I should be spilling the beans (or the tea if you prefer) on that one just yet, but if half of the things I’ve heard are true it’s going to be epic.
What’s Not Changing
Geeks + Gamers is not about to become That Park Place.
That Park Place is going to continue to be the main home of W.D.W. Pro (although he might slip over here on occasion to drop an article or two). Our inside sources and business analysis are going to be working at full strength over there. Although we will be covering some of the same topics on both sites, Geeks + Gamers will continue to have that distinct voice you know as members of the 199.
Alex Gherzo is staying put as Editor in Chief while our newsroom comes in, including myself and Marvin Montanaro (who will be taking on the role of Managing Editor of Geeks + Gamers while remaining Editor in Chief of That Park Place), to give this website the resources it needs to be the go-to hub for entertainment, pop culture, sports, and gaming.
Jeremy puts it best:
The future of Geek + Gamers is bright! We’ve brought TPP onboard to help continue strengthening our infrastructure and online presence.
Jonas joins Geeks + Gamers as Head of Website Operations, working alongside our team to streamline performance and enhance the experience for the 199 community.
TPP will continue creating their own content while aligning their efforts with Geeks + Gamers overall strategy. This partnership is about one thing: making all Geeks + Gamers the go-to hub for entertainment, pop culture, sports, and gaming.
Our goal is the same as it always was – we’re not competing with our fellow content creators / websites, etc. We need as many genuine voices as possible. Our goal is to challenge the mainstream garbage sites out there. We’re going to continue to bring authenticity and brutal honesty.
LFG
Let’s do this!
