The 7 Most Anticipated Films In 2024

It’s a new year and there is a new slate of films that will arrive in theaters. Here are the seven most anticipated films for 2024.

1. Dune: Part Two

Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune continues with Dune: Part Two” Building on the success of the first installment, this sequel promises to further immerse audiences in the intricate and visually stunning world of Arrakis.

Dune: Part Two picks up the epic narrative where its predecessor left off, continuing the saga of House Atreides on the desert planet of Arrakis. As Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) embraces his destiny as Muad’Dib, the mysterious and prophesied figure, the struggle for control over the invaluable spice melange intensifies.

Paul, now fully immersed in the Fremen culture, faces internal and external challenges. His growing prescient abilities make him a beacon of both hope and fear. The political landscape becomes increasingly volatile as rival houses and factions vie for power. The echoes of the jihad and the future glimpsed by Paul cast a shadow over the destiny of Arrakis.

The film arrives in theaters on March 1, 2024.

2. Argylle

A star-studded spy thriller, Argylle features a stellar cast led by Henry Cavill and promises to deliver high-octane action and espionage intrigue. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, this film is set to be a rollercoaster ride of thrills and suspense.

The official synopsis states, “Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.”

It adds, “Accompanied by Aidan (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.”

Argylle arrives in theaters on February 2, 2024.

3. Arthur the King

Arthur the King features Mark Wahlberg as he leads his team that includes Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman through the Dominican Republic to compete for the Adventure Racing World Championship.

The film’s official description states, “Over the course of ten days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. Based on an incredible true story, ARTHUR THE KING follows Light, desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes (Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman) for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.”

It arrives in theaters on March 22, 2024.

4. The Fall Guy

Action-comedy fans can look forward to “The Fall Guy,” a film that combines thrilling stunts with humor. Starring a charismatic ensemble cast, this movie is poised to be a rollicking adventure that pays homage to the classic TV series of the same name.

The official description reads, “He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”

A new hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller and love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them: The Fall Guy. ”

“Oscar® nominee Ryan Gosling (Barbie, La La Land, Drive) stars as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played by Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place films, Sicario)—goes missing,” the synopsis concludes.

The movie arrives in theaters on May 3, 2024.

5. Society of the Snow

Director J.A. Bayona tells the story of the Society of the Snow, an adaptation of Pablo Vierci’s novel Society of the Snow: The Definitive Account of the World’s Greatest Survival Story.

The book tells the true story of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 671 transporting a rugby team that crashes into the Andes mountains. The survivors of the crash, dubbed the Society of the Snow, fight to survive against the harsh conditions of the mountains including freezing temperatures and avalanches. On top of the physical conditions they also had to face the mental and emotional struggles of losing their friends and family.

The film arrives on Netflix on January 4th.

6. Havoc

From the mind of acclaimed director Gareth Evans comes Havoc, a gritty and intense action film. Known for his work on The Raid series, Evans is set to deliver a relentless and adrenaline-pumping experience that action enthusiasts won’t want to miss.

The film stars Tom Hardy as “a detective rescuing a politicians son while unraveling a web of corruption in his society.”

The official logline reads, “After a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.”

No release has been officially set for the film, but it’s expected to arrive on Netflix in 2024.

7.Cabrini

Cabrini is the next film from Sound of Freedom director Alejandro Monteverde. The film tells the story of St. Francesca Cabrini as she arrives in the United States of America.

The official synopsis reads, “When Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini steps foot in America in 1889, she is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children living in New York’s slums. Armed with a fearless spirit and a compassionate heart, Cabrini sets off on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to secure housing and healthcare for society’s most vulnerable.

“Despite broken English and poor health, Cabrini leverages her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything the world had ever seen,” it concludes.

The film arrives in theaters on March 8, 2024.
