Yes, I have a Figment spork! Have you heard about the latest craze for Disney merchandise? The family recently took our annual January trip to Walt Disney World. It just so happened that the EPCOT 2022 International Festival of Arts had just started. One of the must have items at the festival is the Figment popcorn bucket that is sold at the Pop Eats! food stand.
I was going to the Starbucks at EPCOT on the second morning of the festival. I noticed that an extremely long line was forming for the Pop Eats! food stand, even longer than the line for Starbucks, and you know how long that line can be in the mornings. People were literally running to get in this line. I didn’t know what was going on so I asked some Disney personnel. They informed me that everyone was lining up for the Figment popcorn bucket. I finished getting my Starbuck’s order (which was my priority at the moment) and noticed that the line for the popcorn bucket was still growing! What in the world, I wondered? Figment was one of our kids’ favorites, so I’m a fan…but five hours for a popcorn bucket that looks like Figment?!…I was a little flabbergasted.
Throughout the day we saw many smiling people walking around with Figment popcorn buckets. Who would have thought this classic EPCOT character would be so popular with so many? I thought it was just OUR kids who loved Figment, but he must have quite the following! Apparently, there is a huge fan base! Later in the day, the fever hit my daughter in law. She just had to have a Figment bucket for our son, who also still has his Figment bank from the early 90’s. She ended up standing in line for a little over an hour and purchased two Figment popcorn buckets, which was the limit they would allow you to purchase. She graciously gave me one of her prized popcorn buckets. The bucket cost $25 but you can get popcorn refills forever for only $2.50 each time. However, by the time she got to purchase her buckets (toward the end of the day) they were out of popcorn, so this is how I became the proud owner of a Figment spork! They substituted the Spork for the missing popcorn. At the time, I thought that was an odd substitution, and my wife was really disappointed because she wanted the popcorn, her favorite snack. But hold on. Very quickly this Figment spork became a craze, and has now become one of the most sought-after pieces of Disney memorabilia for 2022! Who would have thought?

If you plan to be at EPCOT during the 2022 International Festival of Arts, as you peruse the wonderful exhibits and wares, and try the appetizing, unique foods, it might just be worthwhile to go get in line first to grab your Figment popcorn bucket and/or spork!
