The Most Recent Mandalorian Is More Like Sesame Street

The Mandalorian Season Three has officially jumped the shark so hard that it’s hard to square this with anyone or anything that the series was before.

This is not a review of The Mandalorian’s most recent episode. This is simply a recognition of something that has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

Bryce Dallas Howard is the director for the most recent Mandalorian episode. I don’t know if all the blame should go on her shoulders or if this is something that should be squarely aimed at Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. Whoever is to blame, The Mandalorian has turned into a joke of itself. A Star Wars Holiday Special has been reborn. And watching the most recent sit-down reminded me that all the stakes, all the tension that existed in the first two seasons is completely gone. This is now small-child fare. This is like the old nineties Alice in Wonderland on Disney Channel but with Star Wars characters running around.

And what’s really sad is that I loved some of the cameos in this show. I love Christopher Lloyd for sure! But clearly they were being directed to overact in a way reminiscent of being on Sesame Street. The results are bizarre and awful. This is a show to be mocked.

And the funny thing is, these clips shown within the article are not the worst offenders. Instead, the final moments are just so cringe-worthy that it’s hard to fully express. I didn’t mind prior episodes where Grogu shot a kid with a paintball. I didn’t mind the boring romps with scientists and sequel trilogy foreshadowing. But we’re now closing in on the end of the third season of this show, and the quality has dropped so far as to be unrecognizable. This is a clown-show.

I can only imagine that this is nearing the end for Star Wars as even a franchise that can have content consistently created. We’re beyond it being a declining franchise. It’s approaching something that wouldn’t make it on local television channels.

The actors who came onboard for cameos should receive written apologies. They were directed to be absolutely caricatured and parodied.
