No matter how you feel about Springfield, it seems that it may not be around for much longer. Now before you go jumping up and down thinking that The Simpsons Ride is closing, I have some bad news for you in that regard. This rumor is just limited to Springfield for the time being. A source of mine has told me Springfield will indeed be closing this year, but The Simpsons Ride will likely remain open for awhile longer. This makes sense at USH does not want to close a major ride without opening a new one in its place.
Now am I only basing this rumor off my source? Not at all, as I am taking what my source told me, plus a context clue from Universal themselves as well as some still unofficial Fast and Furious coaster concept art that I am going off of, so let’s discuss.
Universal updated USH’s website recently advertising their “ten themed lands” and while they deem Citywalk, which is not even inside the park, a land, they conspicuously leave out Springfield. They even call Transformers Metrobase a land and include Studio Scoops and Studio Cafe which are generic Lower Lot eateries as part of Transformers Metrobase.
In this piece of concept art for the Fast and Furious coaster, you can clearly see current Springfield icons such as the Duff Beer Garden rethemed to something else.
