The Spirit of Aloha at Disney World Fully Demolished

A long, long time ago, in a website not so far away (namely this one), we told you that The Spirit of Aloha theater at the Polynesian Resort in Disney World was not long for this world. Though it was a rumor at the time, our sources are often spot-on, and today the destination for a Luau in Florida is finally gone. In its place will be another DVC addition for Disney vacationers. Here is the quote we had all the way back in September:

“This ” Rumor ” Is from my close friend who is employed as a DVC sales Castmember. The scuttlebutt is that the Poly Luau is permanent history and the area that Luau cove sits in and the surrounding area is to be the site of a new DVC tower. Can’t say this, if confirmed , would be good news. Not to mention the fact that it would overwhelm the property. Hoping he is wrong. Any thoughts ???” — Mark48

It turns out the DVC Sales Cast Member was exactly right.

It was one of Disney World’s oldest options in the resort, not turned to rubble for a new addition. Here’s to hoping that Disney will add more options such as The Spirit of Aloha so that the uniqueness and flavor of Walt Disney World doesn’t disappear.

To all of you who worked at the venue over the decades, we say “aloha.” Mahalo plenty.
