Tokyo Disneyland will open Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue on April 15, 2027. This will be the world’s first attraction based on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wreck-It Ralph.” The date lands on the park’s 44th anniversary and anchors the next phase of the Tomorrowland overhaul.
Guests step into the candy racing world of Sugar Rush as King Candy turns gumdrops and ice cream into Sugar Bugs programmed to consume the kingdom. Riders team with Ralph, Vanellope, and friends across multiple scenes to restore the bugs to their original “kawaii” forms before the confectionery realm collapses.
Ride vehicles carry scanners for a cooperative defense mini-game. Points track how many bugs and which types get restored, with results on the onboard display and, for a limited window, in the Tokyo Disney Resort App. In-ride photos land automatically in My Photos for purchase.
Henry Jackman, who scored the film, composed and recorded new music for the attraction. OLC says a Standby Pass (free) or Disney Premier Access (paid) may be required once it opens.

Preview programming starts Jan. 12, 2027, with a smartphone mini-game that trains guests to help save Sugar Rush at home and in select park areas. Themed decorations arrive Feb. 18, and a castle projection-mapping show inspired by the attraction begins March 18.
Pixel Prism, a shop next door with fiber-optic and pixel motifs, opens the same day as the ride. Popping Station, a luminous popcorn stand overlooking Tomorrowland Plaza, soft-opens March 17 with Sugar-Lime Popcorn inspired by the Sugar Bugs.
OLC’s release puts hard dates on an overhaul fans have tracked in pieces for years.
Why April 15, 2027 Matters for Tomorrowland
Tokyo Disneyland opened April 15, 1983. Dropping the first Wreck-It Ralph ride on that anniversary is deliberate branding: OLC’s release ties Sugar Rush to a “new tomorrow” and lists Space Mountain Earthrise, Tomorrowland Plaza, and fresh shops and restaurants as later beats in the same land refresh.
What the Ride Actually Asks Guests to Do
This isn’t a passive dark ride. Scanners in the vehicles make restoring Sugar Bugs a shared score chase, with app follow-through for bragging rights and photo buys. OLC is pitching kids and adults on the same interactive loop.
Bluetooth and the Tokyo Disney Resort App need to be on before the experience if you want results and photos synced. Purchases stay available for 30 days.
Tokyo’s rebuild clock is already counting down to that April morning.
Merch, Snacks, and the Run-Up Calendar
Opening wave merchandise includes Ralph and Vanellope postcards, Sugar Bug designs, plush, toys, and candy. Sugar-Lime Popcorn rolls at Popping Station and popcorn wagons parkwide, with limited restaurant menu items elsewhere in Tokyo Disneyland.
Between the January mini-game, February decor, March castle show, and April 15 opening, OLC is staging a four-month drumroll. For Wreck-It Ralph fans, Tomorrowland finally gets a permanent address instead of a meet-and-greet cameo.
