President Trump used Truth Social to launch an attack on late night host Seth Meyers recently.

“Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television,” the President said. “In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise. I watched his show the other night for the first time in years. In it he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults. On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic. Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”

Mainstream media were quick to point out Trump’s inaccurate claim that the pre-taped Late Night with Seth Meyers is broadcast live. Entertainment Weekly explained that Meyers’ A Closer Look segment was inspired by Trump’s “odd speech” given aboard the U.S.S. George Washington, noting his “meandering remarks” about catapults.

While it’s hardly noteworthy for a late show to take aim at Trump, the president’s lengthy response has garnered attention.

A Closer Look at A Closer Look

In the eight-minute segment, Meyers opened by discussing Trump’s recent trip to Asia. He covered all the usual talking points, making fun of the president’s signature dancing style, Fox News’ coverage of the visit, and the way he shakes hands, before arriving at the catapult remarks.

Capping off that portion, Meyers joked, “Guy spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote.”

Meyers quickly segued into a bit about Trump’s response to criticism from the left.

“If anyone dares to say anything less than glowing, Trump loses his (bleep),” Meyers said, before showing a post from Truth Social where Trump suggested Chuck Schumer’s calling the Asia trip “a total dud” was “almost treasonous.” The comic followed up with a few select jokes about some of history’s most notorious traitors.

Some claim Trump’s over-the-top reply may actually be part of the joke — a way to maintain control of the narrative rather than appear rattled by criticism.

But that doesn’t mean Trump secretly likes Meyers. As LateNighter notes, “Meyers himself holds the distinction of being Trump’s longest-tenured late-night antagonist, dating back to the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, when cameras caught Trump watching stone-faced as both Meyers and then-President Obama roasted the then-Apprentice host. Some believe it was his humiliation at that event which led Trump to seriously stage his 2016 run for the White House.”

That may have been the start of a long-standing grudge Trump holds against Meyers, of whom he said earlier this year, “Every time I watch this moron I feel an obligation to say how dumb and untalented he is, merely a slot filler for the Scum that runs Comcast.”

Meyers Has the Last Word… For Now

As Deadline reports, Meyers has responded to Trump’s comments.

“In general, I try to live by the New Yorker’s creed: When someone is ranting and raving about you, ignore them. Chances are, they’re just going to move on and rave about something else. But there’s one thing I simply have to address,” he said. “You can say I’m untalented. You can say I’m deranged. But I’m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”

This may be the end of it until Meyers says something else that arouses Trump’s ire. As the White House and legacy media battle for the public perception, and late night ratings continue to plummet, one has to question if the public is even aware.

What do you think? Does Seth Meyers need new non-Trump material? Should Trump have let this one go? Sound off in the comments!

Trump shouldn’t bother with the Legacy Media, which, up to now, served him well.

Why take the bait? Myers actually has good advice: when someone is doing their hardest to get your attention, the worst thing to do is give it to them!

Myers, Fallon, and Kimmel got juiced by the elections this week which probably gave them a lifeline on how much longer the studios can support the declining audience. All they need to do is rant about Trump and then go into Makeup or dating tutorials for the 18-29 y/o Women.

Then 60-90% of all the liberal women in the blue cities will support them!
