Various inside sources are claiming that Typhoon Lagoon is likely to reopen in December or January, coinciding with the planned refurbishment of Blizzard Beach. The Walt Disney World water park has been closed since the March of 2020. The park had been planned to be reopened instead of Blizzard Beach, but a construction accident resulting in a partial collapse of the Mount Mayday terrain caused a last moment switch.

Disney has not announced how long Blizzard Beach is expected to be down for refurbishment, but do not be surprised if it is extended. The demand for water parks has been significantly lower than pre-pandemic, with Blizzard Beach often operating at near empty guest attendance. Running two water parks at any point during the winter of 2021-22 is unlikely to be an attractive offer for Disney Parks. This will be occurring at the same time that Disney is demanding Orlando management cut back hours and staff significantly for Q1.
Typhoon Lagoon is the logistically superior water park to operate during a pandemic. The park has more options for severe weather social distancing, has a higher maximum capacity, and more attractions that provide for spread-out, splashing fun.
