The Mario Movie is almost here, and as it closes in, Universal Studios theme parks are discovering that that can’t meet demand for Mario merchandise. It may be a strong sign of growing popularity!

So we are coming up on two months since the official opening of Super Nintendo World (SNW) at Universal Studios Hollywood (USH), let’s take a look at how merch sales are doing. Now I don’t have any official stats, but judging by all of the empty shelves I can tell the Nintendo merch is VERY popular and a certain character in particular is EXTREMELY popular.

Every single Nintendo store in the theme park and Citywalk has shelves that are empty and the stores themselves are pretty packed.

One character that is very popular is Yoshi. Everywhere in the park I noticed people wearing Yoshi hats and headbands. At one point I even noticed two team members carrying armfuls of Yoshi merch because they could not keep up with the high pace of people buying the Yoshi merch!

Here are a couple of examples of more empty store shelves throughout the stores in the park.

Have you visited Super Nintendo World? Have you bought merch? Is Nintendo even hotter than Disney at the moment? Let us know in the comments section!
