The Vice Mayor of Burbank, Konstantine Anthony, is suggesting on Twitter that demonstrators and protesters for and against Disney may be treated differently by police depending on their free speech prerogatives. In one tweet, the Vice Mayor admits that he has sought police help to curb “right-wing” protests but he fears that would result in “left-wing” protests being treated the same. This is clearly a violation of First Amendment protections for people to demonstrate or speak regardless of their political affiliation or points of view. Trying to treat people differently, using the police, based on their political beliefs is nuts, and more importantly, very dangerous.

The Vice Mayor goes on to make even more statements which are truly repugnant. He suggests that the City of Burbank chose not to dismiss protesters against Disney based on the belief that The Walt Disney Company had supported out-of-state legislation which he mislabels. This is truly something akin to a totalitarian approach to policing and to governing over free speech rights.

We’re not a political website and I’m not interested in political commentary in my articles. That said, equal rights, protections, and courtesy should be given to all peoples when they speak out about the issues concerning Disney. That means people on the left should be treated with due respect and people on the right should be treated with due respect. Demonizing those who disagree with you is a fool’s errand that creates horrific effects within society. We should avoid it at all costs and work to dialogue with one another.

I fully expect a biased approach to policing the protests so future protests shouldn’t necessarily be in Burbank, but in Anaheim, Glendale, LA at Disney Hall, etc. Leftist authoritarianism will not stop people from being concerned about the inappropriate grooming of kids. This won’t end well.
If you have to write “we’re not a political website” in every single post, it means you’re a political website
If you think we’re writing that on every article then you’re only clicking on the very few pieces that deal specifically with Disney’s politicization. Try clicking on Kermit’s voice articles instead.
We all wait for Dr Strange opening weekend. If Disney harmed their brand, opening weekend will be bad.
