Warner Bros has released the second trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The big question looming in the minds of Warner Bros executives is whether or not they can be successful in a mostly post-Rowling Harry Potter world. Whatever your thoughts on the author and her views, there’s no doubt that entertainment companies have tried to move away from her as social media movements have sprung up to denounce the creator of Harry Potter but not the franchise itself.
Warner Bros itself is preparing for a hopeful early 2022. Beyond Harry Potter, the company is crossing its fingers that The Batman will be an excellent soft reboot of their DC Comics theatrical releases.
Once I wanted to put it into this world and that I wanted to do a detective story noir and that whole thing, they were very responsive. They were very excited about that. I said from the beginning, to do a standalone Batman film, you really have to [do something different]. There’s a long line of great movies. And so, the idea that you can come and just do another Batman film, it has to be a great Batman film. You have to set out to do something that feels distinctive and different and definitive.
