According to a source familiar with the matter Jennifer Remling, the head of HR for Warner Bros Discovery has exited the company “effective immediately” as of Thursday, March 6. Remling is being replaced by Amy Girdwood, a long time Human Resources executive who started at Discovery in 1993. Jennifer Remling joined WBD in January of 2024, putting her tenure at only 15 months.

The email from David Zaslav, dated Thursday, 3/6 read:
“I want to share with you the news that Jennifer Remling, our Chief People & Culture Oiffice, is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities… I’m pleased to share with you that Amy Girdwood will be stepping into the role as Chief People & Culture Officer, effective immediately.”
This comes on the heels of the February 27 announcement that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Warner Bros Discovery is being renamed to simply “Inclusion” under Remling and Asif Sadiq. Until the change, Sadiq was referred to as “chief global diversity, equity, and inclusion officer,” which has now been updated to chief inclusion officer.

It is difficult to determine if this is part of a wider strategy, but the recent announcement that Paapa Essiedu has been cast in the upcoming Harry Potter remake to play the “pale” and “sallow” potions master Severus Snape would indicate that Warner Bros Discovery is continuing it’s previously known trajectory. Sadiq has been known internally as a champion for diversity in the casting process, despite fan confusion.

Are the rumors true that in order to have Alan Rickman have such a look of absolute horror, they used a Time Machine to show him what the HP franchise would look like decades from now?
“Continuing its previously known trajectory?” Is that code for “nosediving straight into the ground and going up in flames?” Because it obviously doesn’t mean they’re doing any actual course correction by completely abandoning each and every aspect of what ESG and DEI really is.
HR is a cancer on any business.
To paraphrase Percy Byshe Shelley, “HR, like government, is an evil; it’s only the iniquities and vices of employees that make it a necessary evil.”
Before anyone tries to tell me otherwise, realize I *just* settled a lawsuit with a hospital my employer loaned me out to as a lab tech over their breach of contract; their HR got nailed to the wall for defending the acting director who was the cause of said suit. I knew how corrupt HR departments can be even before this. But even parasites like them have their places in the business ecology and wiping them out is going to cause worse problems than they’re responsible for.
Its crazy studios would rather keep losing money than admit promoting woke women to positions of power doesn’t work.
DEI will continue to infest corporations and politics. And infect them evermore with the woke mind virus. It’s simply disastrous. We have planes landing upside down (all-female crews), terrible movies, and rubbish TV. And, in general, incompetence absolutely everywhere. To the detriment of the customer.
