Sonic x Shadow Generations (2024), Sega

Thanksgiving week is a major time for movie-going and the going is getting very good for film previews. As opposed to the Snow White live action movie trailer, which still does not have a proper YouTube release (likely for fear of negative backlash), Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Lilo and Stitch are out in the wild. Both appear to be wildly good.

For the prior, Paramount’s Sonic movie trailer is just about as good as it gets. It could be a bad sign for Disney’s hopes that Mufasa will win at the box office during the Christmas break. It’s hard to imagine exactly how Sonic could be marketed any better than is presented in this preview.

Meanwhile, Disney is looking for a return-to-form for Memorial Day Weekend in 2025. The original director, writer and voice of Stitch is reprising his role and consulting on the Lilo and Stitch live action remake. It’s been a very long time since a Disney trailer knocked it out of the park, but this teaser seems to really be nailing the correct message and vibe for a return to Hawaii. It’s a great trailer to drop before Moana 2.

So there you go. Two family films with two trailers that are really phenomenal. How nice is it to get to finally report on some positive news that way? Maybe the world is healing after all.
