Whoopi Goldberg attacked Donald Trump and his voters again on Tuesday’s episode of The View, comparing herself to working class American’s undergoing hard times despite a net worth in the tens of millions.

Hollywood celebrities are collectively losing their minds over President-Elect Donald Trump’s decisive election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris last week. From Rachel Zegler to Mark Ruffalo, the Hollywood elite are quickly learning that they don’t have the social sway they once enjoyed.

And they’re clearly not taking it well.

ABC’s daytime talk show The View has been a lightning rod for these election meltdowns since Trump was declared the winner in a massive 312 to 226 electoral victory. The hosts have had in depth discussions on the election results just about every day since Trump clinched the presidency. But yesterday, host Whoopi Goldberg, star of films like Ghost and Sister Act, compared herself to financially struggling working-class Americans while trying to dismiss their concerns.

Whoopi’s comments came during a conversation regarding a recent social media post by New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. The often controversial political figure asked her constituents who voted for Trump why they did so. Many of the responses centered around economic hardship and a dissatisfaction with the Biden administration’s response to rising costs and inflation.

Goldberg seemed to dismiss these claims, seemingly unwilling to accept that something like the ability to put food on the table might influence someone’s vote.

“I’m sorry, when you have one candidate who has been running for 12 years who lies and changes things…,” she said, before seemingly abandoning that train of thought for another approach. “I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me too, I work for a living. If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here. OK? So, I’m a working person, and my kid has to feed her family, and my great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family.”

It’s worth noting that Whoopi Goldberg has an estimated net worth of $60 million. In 2016, her annual salary for hosting The View fell somewhere between $5 million and $6 million.

According to SoFi, the average salary for working class Americans is $63,795 in 2024.

Its been reported in studies that the average American family of four needs to make upwards of $100,000 per year in order to get by. In New Jersey, the state where Whoopi Goldberg lives, the average family of four needs to make $104,770 per year in order to get by.

So, it’s safe to say that Goldberg with her $5 million to $6 million per year salary and her $60 million net worth is not, in fact, having a hard time of it. Or, at the very least, not the same kind of hardship facing working class Americans.

Studies say that an American retiring with $1 million can survive for 30 years without running out of money. Whoopi Goldberg reportedly has 60 times that amount, meaning that if the 69 year-old actress and talkshow host retired today, she’d have enough money to last 1,800 years.

So, the available facts show that Whoopi Goldberg is, in fact, not a “working person” undergoing hard times like so many others.

Many have pointed to the tone deaf nature of Hollywood celebrities for years now as the reason why their sway on American culture has diminished.

From Gal Gadot and friends singing John Lennon’s Imagine from their mansions during the pandemic while lecturing average American families about what they should be doing to Whoopi Goldberg attacking Trump and comparing herself to struggling American families, it seems as though the people Hollywood has preached to for so long are finally done listening.

What do you think about Whoopi Goldberg commenting on Trump and comparing herself to working class Americans? When is the last time a celebrity opinion has swayed your decisions? Sound off and let us know.
