Wookieepedia, an online Star Wars encyclopedia owned by Fandom and private equity firm TPG Inc., tacitly condemned Leslye Headland for claiming that individuals who oppose race-based casting are not Star Wars fans.

Headland informed The New York Times in the lead-up to the release of the premiere of The Acolyte, “As a fan myself, I know how frustrating some ‘Star Wars’ storytelling in the past has been. I’ve felt it myself.”

In a follow-up text message she then declared that Star Wars fans who oppose race-based casting are not actually Star Wars fans. She said, “I stand by my empathy for ‘Star Wars’ fans. But I want to be clear. Anyone who engages” in that way, “I don’t consider a fan.”

Wookieepedia tacitly condemned these comments in the wake of the fourth episode of The Acolyte debuting on Disney+. The official account for the encyclopedia wrote on X, “Star Wars is for everyone. You may not like everything that gets produced, but that does not give you the right to tell others they cannot enjoy it. Not every piece of media released will resonate with every fan, and that’s okay. Enjoy what you enjoy.”

In a follow-up post, the outlet added, “If you like Star Wars, you are a Star Wars fan. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

The message comes as numerous editors on the website attempted to change the birth date for Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi, who appeared in the episode despite him not being alive at the time the show takes place, 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace.

The current entry does not list a birth date for Ki-Adi-Mundi, but rather details he took part in a meeting with other Jedi in the year 132 BBY. Previous entries and the current Legends entry list Mundi’s birth year as 93 BBY given it was established in Star Wars Episode I Insider’s Guide that the now Legends Dark Horse Comics series Star Wars Republic: Prelude to Rebellion detailed that Ki-Adi-Mundi was 60 years old just before the events of The Phantom Menace. Given the fact that he was 60 years old just ahead of the events of The Phantom Menace, which took place in 33 BBY, Mundi must have been born around 93 BBY.

Thus he would not have been born at the time of 132 BBY when The Acolyte takes place.

Furthermore a Topps card also noted he was “born in 92 BBY.”

Not only were numerous editors attempting to change the birth date, but at least one editor who was attempting to point out The Acolyte’s massive mishap was blocked from editing the website.

One such editor was CamoLive. An explanation for why this person was blocked was given by user Spookywilloww who claimed CamoLive was “adding unverified information to articles.” Ironically, as noted the Legends entry does indeed cite the Star Wars Episode I Insider’s Guide as a source for Mundi’s birth year of 93 BBY.

Does this surprise anyone? They disabled any interwiki for the Russian section after an anti-Russian Baltic user tried to impose gender terminology that does not exist in the Russian language and was driven away. They also refused to remove LGBTQ works from the canon after retcons erased it or added characters like Luke to that category based on speculative short story anthologies.

If you love Star Wars, then you are a Star Wars fan. But if you love it enough to not accept the mockery of the franchise, then you’re not a true fan. Understood.

I don’t think they mean it in that direction, but to their sides benefit instead. “Acolyte fans are star wars fans” kind of deal.

I just love how they’re fighting over his birth year saying it didn’t exist. They forget long time star wars fans are nerds who know everything they can about the series.

All of this, all of it, is conjecture at this point.
A tiny minority, (in charge at disney, armed with a fractionally, tiny, yet over amplified voice) are making $ billion dollar “entertainment” falling on blind eyes and deaf ears. Nobody I know has watched any of this swill since 2021. And no foreseeable path back.
I just started watching “Taxi”. This weirdo chick’s art is so far from my eyes. Only here because it used to be forefront of my eyes and I lament the usurper kathleen kennedy.
