Netflix subscribers reportedly tuned out of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon series with one analytics company revealing that viewership dropped over 40% from the first film to the second.

Earlier this week, the company reported that only 967,000 US households tuned in to watch Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.
That’s a decline of 43.12% albeit it’s not an apples to apples comparison given the first data point is over five days while the second one is just over three days.
Netflix has released their own numbers for Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver as well. According to the streamer’s data the film, which released on April 19th, racked up 44.2 million hours viewed for a total of 21.4 million views. Its runtime clocked in at 2 hours and 4 minutes. Netflix calculates views by dividing the total hours viewed by total runtime and then it rounds up to the nearest 100,000.
In contrast, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire had 54.1 million hours viewed and 23.9 million views. It’s runtime clocked in at 2 hours and 16 minutes. The film released on December 22nd.
Based on Netflix’s data the total views between Part One and Part Two declined by 10.4%. Of note, Netflix’s data is for global viewers while Samba TV is only tracking viewers in the United States.
It will be interesting to see what kind of legs Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver will have. The first film saw its viewership and views increase in its second week given it had a full week compared to just the weekend. According to Netflix in its second week on the streamer the film drew in 34 million views and 77 millions hours viewed. In its third week the film had a huge drop in viewership. It only brought in 11.1 million views and 25.1 million hours viewed.
In its fourth week, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire only brought in 3.9 million views and 8.9 million hours viewed. By the film’s fifth week, the middle of January, the film had fallen off Netflix’s Top 10 English-language films.
With the release of the second film, the first film did see a resurgence. It placed fifth on Netflix’s Top 10 list and brought in 12.5 million hours viewed and 5.5 million views.
