Justice finally begins to shake off the cobwebs as it comes for Alec Baldwin following a very long investigation into his shooting of an innocent woman.
Alec Baldwin is being charged with manslaughter in the case of shooting Halyna Hutchins fatally during the production of “Rust,” a movie in which Baldwin was not only an actor but also owned the production company. Not only is Baldwin being charged with manslaughter, but now we know the extent to the alleged malfeasance. In addition to pointing a real gun at other humans — a huge error on any production set — Baldiwn also possessed in his “prop” costume live ammunition rather than fake decoys.
The charge against Baldwin accompanies a similar charge against the weapon oversight manager for the production company. She is alleged to have mishandled ammunition and guns so badly that target practice may have taken place on the set with items to be used in the making of the movie. Baldwin had previously said that production on the movie would resume. That now seems in doubt.
“Every person that handles a gun has a duty to make sure that if they’re going to handle that gun, point it at someone and pull the trigger that it is not going to fire a projectile and kill someone. An actor does not get a free pass just because they are an actor. That is what is so important. We are saying here in New Mexico, that everyone is equal under the law. He didn’t check it. He didn’t do any of things he was supposed to do to make sure that he was safe or that anyone around him was safe.”— New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, CNN
“We want to thank the Santa Fe Sheriff and the District Attorney for concluding their thorough investigation and determining that charges for involuntary manslaughter are warranted for the killing of Halyna Hutchins with conscious disregard for human life. Our independent investigation also supports that charges are warranted. It is a comfort to the family that, in New Mexico, no one is above the law. We support the charges, will fully cooperate with this prosecution, and fervently hope the justice system works to protect the public and hold accountable those who break the law.”— Attorney Brian J. Panish, Hutchins Family Attorney
In the past, Mr. Baldwin’s responses to the death of Mrs. Hutchins have been troubled to say the least. We have documented just some of the other individuals whom he has blamed:
If Alec Baldwin killed Halyna Hutchins due to negligent behavior, or worse, it is time that justice is served. If he innocent, then let a jury of his fellow citizens make that determination. Halyna Hutchins should not be dead.
