Godzilla Minus One continues its astounding run at the box office with its third weekend only seeing grosses decline by 41%.

The film has currently grossed $34.4 million domestically and another $23 million internationally for a global gross of $57.4 million.
The film grossed $11.4 million in its first weekend. It then showed extremely strong staying power most likely due to strong word of mouth about just how good the film is. It only declined 25% in its second weekend bringing in $8.5 million.
In its third weekend the film declined 41% to $5 million.

Not only is the film showing it has really strong legs with these small declines at the box office, but every single weekend so far, its theater count has increased. In its first weekend, The-Numbers reports the film only screened in 2,308 theaters.
By its second weekend that number had increased to 2,540. It went up to 2,622 by its third weekend.

The film’s production company, Toho is responding to the movie’s success in domestic theaters as well. Toho announced earlier this month that they were not only increasing the number of theaters for the film moving forward, but would continue to screen the film “as long as people are attending.”

If the budget is indeed $15 million as some outlets have reported that means the film’s break even point is around $37.5 million. Godzilla Minus One has far surpassed that mark with a global gross of $57.4 million and it does not look like the breakout hit will be stopping any time soon.
