This is not surprising given Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal announced at the premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse back in May 2023 that Sony was developing a Miles Morales film.
When asked about a Miles Morales and Spider-Woman film, she informed Variety, “You’ll see all of it. It’s all happening.”

She also indicated that a fourth Spider-Man movie is in the works, but the strikes delayed work on it. She said, “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are.”
Pascal continued, “We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”
Interestingly, while Pascal was seemingly guaranteeing the future of these films, Sony’s CEO Tom Rothman was much more vague saying, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

Morales was hinted to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in Spider-Man: Homecoming when he confronted Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis who informed him, “I don’t want those weapons in this neighborhood, I’ve got a nephew who lives here.
In the comics, Aaron Davis is the Prowler in Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. He also happens to be the uncle of Miles Morales.
If Sony is sticking to creating films based on Spider-Woman and Miles Morales, it makes sense that they would want to introduce Miles Morales in a fourth Spider-Man before spinning him off in his own film.
That strategy is one that worked exceptionally well for Marvel Studios when they introduced Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War before giving him his own solo film.
It also worked exceptionally well for Spider-Man. Like Black Panther, they introduced him in Captain America: Civil War before giving him his solo film in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

However, the studio has to contend with two massive flops in Madame Web and Morbius. Not to mention word of mouth on Kraven the Hunter bodes ill for that movie as well.
Madame Web has only grossed $36.5 million at the domestic box office after two weekends. It’s earned another $42 million internationally for a global gross of $78.5 million. It’s reported that the production budget was in the low $100 million range. That means the film needs to earn at minimum $250 million to break even.
Morbius only grossed $73.8 million domestically and another $88.8 million internationally for a global gross of $162.7 million. It had a production budget of $75 million meaning it needed to bring in $187.5 million to break even.
Anya Corazon (Isabela Merced), Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson), Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney) and Mattie Franklin (Celeste OConnor) in Columbia Pictures MADAME WEB.
One thing they do have going for them for Miles Morales is that their animated films have done well. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse grossed $190.1 million domestically and added another $185.2 million internationally for a global gross of $375.4 million in 2018.
It had a production budget of $90 million, meaning its break even was $225 million. Thus it surpassed that mark and brought in money for Sony.

They followed that up with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse last year. It grossed $381.5 million domestically and another $300.2 million internationally for a global gross of $681.8 million.
Its production budget was $100 million meaning it needed to bring in $250 million to break even. Clearly, it did that and more.
