Actor Ahmed Best, known for his role in the Star Wars prequel films as Jar Jar Binks, recently teased his return to the character.

Best shared a post to Instagram of him in a motion capture suit and captioned it, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”

He also included the following hashtags: “mocap, starwars, jarjarbinks, activision, jedi, sithlord, kelleranbeq.”

It’s unclear exactly what Best is referring to here, but it appears he is doing motion capture work for the Star Wars characters that he’s portrayed. As noted he played Jar Jar Binks in the prequel films. He also returned to Star Wars and played Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in an episode on The Mandalorian in Season 3. He also played the character in the reality series Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.

However, given he included Activision, it’s likely for a video game rather than any kind of television series or film. Activision’s Call of Duty game has begun copying Fortnite’s strategy where players can purchase various skins of pop culture characters. It’s likely that there could be skins for both Jar Jar Binks and Kelleran Beq.

It’s also possible Best is teasing multiple projects. It could be that Call of Duty will feature a Jar Jar Binks skin while he might reprise his role for The Mandalorian & Grogu film albeit that film is not set to go into production yet.

Nevertheless, he could be teasing his return in the feature film.

Another piece is the fact that he also included the hashtag sithlord. There’s a popular fan fiction that Jar Jar Binks was actually a Sith Lord who was working in cahoots with Darth Sidious to manipulate the Republic and its leaders in order to hand over power to Emperor Palpatine and forming the First Galactic Empire.

His bizarre and clumsy antics in The Phantom Menace were all a ruse in order to gain the good graces of the Jedi as well as Padmé Amidala, the leader of Naboo. After ingratiating himself he then used his political connections to rally the Senate to grant Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers that allowed him to greenlight the Army of the Grand Republic.

It’s possible Call of Duty might incorporate this fan fiction into the game and depict Binks as a Sith Lord.
