Actress Amandla Stenberg, who plays Osha and Mae in Star Wars: The Acolyte, released a low production value diss track on Juneteenth in an attempt to defend the show and her past controversial comments.

Stenberg posted the nearly 4 minute song to her Instagram account writing, “Happy Juneteenth and to those who are flooding me with intolerable racism—since it took me 72 hours on my laptop to make this song and video, u got 72 hours to respond. and I expect choreo!!”
The song begins with Stenberg gyrating as the term “Discourse” blinks rapidly over her head. Ironically, the lyrics “We so bored, don’t f*** with your discourse” are repeated.

From there, Stenberg sings, “I’m going viral on twitter again. Open up the news to find some interesting things. 20 million views. Interview from 2018 with Trevor the King when I was thirteen. (Stenberg was 20 at the time of the interview with Trevor Noah)”
The song continues, “I was running from city to city to speak on a story, you know the one, police murdering a black boy. My people cried in the theaters finding release. White people cried. They could see us as human beings. Trevor ask what I want the people to know. I say white people crying was the goal. If they could take one thing what would it be? I say empathy. Ooooo that’s why they mad at me?”

Stenberg then sings, “They splice lines, make hate they recognize, make it look like the same propaganda they spew ’cause they conflate our pain with violence and try to weaponize everything that we do. The desperation of oppressors is rising and now they holding onto any ole thing they can use. If you rely upon misinformation then that tells me you afraid of the truth.”
From there, Stenberg sings “We so bored, don’t f*** with your discourse” over and over again.

Next, she sings, “And now you listening imma tell you something fascinating. They spinning woke. Bastardize it and appropriate it. Last I recall woke was something we created. Speak truth to power. Keep an eye out for you silly racists. And now they use it to describe anything they threatened by. Remember when Gambino put it in the zeitgeist? It was all about the people recognizing bigotry. The power of community not fodder for your clickbait.”
“Speaking of which, journalists I’m looking at you. Did you forget it’s your job to provide the truth? Spreading divisiveness, mining the metrics and data, seem you gave up all your ethics for money and views. And I can tell that the people are tired and the kids don’t trust anything that they view. We can learn something from their discernment. The future’s coming and it’s always the youth,” she continues.
The chorus then repeats.

She then concludes, “My sis said don’t let it get to my spirit, but I’m sick and f***ing tired of suppressing my rage. 400 years of taking their bulls**t to compartmentalize like my ancestors had to encaged? If you don’t confront the pain that you live with, it’ll manifest as addiction diseases and hate. I’ve seen the infection repression can give ya. I’m not gonna be the next one sent to an early grave.”

As for Stenberg’s claim that her comments about making white people cry were taken out of context, this is true. However, as previously noted even in context the comments are disgusting. In fact, she even confirms that the comments were made to push an agenda in her song.
What do you make of Stenberg’s song?

Please someone tell her that fans criticizing not her skin color, but the writing of her character.
Stenberg is half Danish – all this talk about ‘white oppressors’ is just race-grifting to advance her career. Does she hate here own father? Maybe that’s what feminists do by default nowadays. Aside from that she was born in LA and has been in the entertainment-modeling world since age 4 – i find it extremely unlikely that she’s ever encountered any actual racism. It’s all in her head – like the sort of women who think a man opening the door for a woman is some sort of statement patriarchal oppression.
I come from a mixed family myself and I can tell you that it often comes down to very absurd attempts to be holier than the Pope. Plus, people with mixed origins, usually themselves or as a result of society’s stereotypes, gradually begin to associate themselves more with the roots that highlight them where they live. For example, I am half Slavic, but since I live in a Slavic country, I have often had a Slavic identity crisis. So I wouldn’t be surprised that she doesn’t even always remember her white roots.
But yeah, given her whole background, her attempt to declare that “you’ve been bothering my people all your life!” looks extremely hypocritical and manipulative. This is the same as Spielberg’s recent attempt to accuse those who did not want to watch his autobiographical film of anti-Semitism.
That’s exactly right. Dems have controlled where she’s from and they hail it as a progressive bastion. So where is she getting that to her face hate from?? 🙄 Can’t have it both ways
This has to be a virtue signaling stunt. I don’t see any other reason for it.
It was an emotional attempt to use the race card because something prevented her from arguing with her critics on the merits.
This brat is clearly deflecting on what Woke really is. Neo-Marxism. Of course, no one had the heart to tell her, that she’s really an ESG/DEI approved “celebrity”.
Straight up no talent
Wow. So original, kae.
What a fresh take.
On a side note, I wonder if it might be possible for Mr. Trent to put a sub-title into his articles that delineate discussion of Catholic topics (‘The Catholic Perspective’ ?) to distinguish it from the main point of the article. While I am fully aligned on the overall details; I am not Catholic (In fact I’m not a follower of any flavor of Abrahamic religion) and frankly (like possibly many readers) have no interest in that angle. There are good arguments from the secular perspective to support anti-woke and anti-‘progressive’ ideologies and those have a greater chance of winning people over. Relying on different permutations of ‘the Bible says’ to support those positions is ultimately a weak strategy from the point of argumentation – it only has weight or substance to people who already believe it. If we are to succeed in getting society back to a point of sanity we need to win over people who are only marginally or not at all religious.
I have and always will believe religion is the opiate of the masses. Sadly now so is social media. That being said, my children are all in Catholic schools and I couldn’t be happier with their progression into maturity. It’s still not for me but I understand the responsibility that comes from “community”. I don’t get into John’s theological take, but it’s his site, and I steer towards pretty much else he espouses. So I like just let the painter paint.
Unlike the “progressives”, I like to think that sane, conservative folk, understand no one is 100% like me, and I’m okay with that. I tend to sidle up to the people that share higher percentage of the same beliefs as me, but I kind of also enjoy the slight differences. Spice of life.
I’m not trying to be a contrarian, Corvinus, just giving my unsolicited $.02 brother.
What is Corvinus? I can google it, but that takes the fun out of it. Genuinely curious.
Her career should have died when her character in the Hunger Games did.
This seems like the biggest parody to me. Sounds like something Andy Kauffman would stage to pull the wool over people’s eyes. I’m having a hard time reconciling that this…. person actually did this in good faith. Maybe Musk was right when he said we’re living in an artificial world now. Like a real life collective “Truman show”.
