Back in June, Klementieff was asked what character she would like to play in Gunn’s DC Universe during an appearance at Superhero Comic Con in San Antonio.

As reported by AgentsFandom, she responded, “Do you really think I’m going to answer this question? I just want to keep working with James, so we’re going to keep trying to find ways to do that. Yes, we’ve been talking about one specific character, but I can’t talk about that right now.”

Scooper My Time To Shine Hello reacted to this post and alleged that the character that Klementieff and Gunn have discussed is Huntress.

The scooper previously shared that Huntress was coming to the DC Universe back in August 2023 writing, “Huntress is coming to the DCU.”

He also claimed in December 2023 that a Huntress movie was in development from The Villainess director.

The Villainess was a 2017 South Korean film directed by Jung Byung-gil that starred Kim Ok-bin, Shin Ha-kyun, and Sung Jun. The film followed a young female assassin after she was captured by a South Korean intelligence and agrees to work for them for 10 years in exchange for her freedom.

It has a number of twists and turns with one being that she was pregnant when she was captured by the South Korean intelligence agency.

My Time To Shine Hello was not the first scooper to claim that a Huntress film was in development. The r/DCULeaks account shared in July that a Korean Huntress film was in development.

It wrote at the time, “As we teased in our AMA, we can exclusively report that a Huntress film in earl development for the DCU. There is a twist however and that twist is that this is a foreign language film. The film will be in Korean and DC Studios is looking for Korean directors.”

In January, the account stated, “We can confirm that Huntress will be Helena Bertinelli and she will be half-Italian/half-Korean in the DCU.”

Of note, James Gunn had high praise for Jung Byung-gil back in April 2023. He wrote on his Instagram account, “One of my favorite directors is Director J, Jeong Byeong-gil, who directed Villainess & Carter. I make all of my DPs and camera operators watch Villainess as Director J’s work in action filmmaking puts him in the category of John Woo, the Wachowskis, Gareth Evans and Park Chan-wook.”

“And of course I have turned all the Guardians onto his work (except Pom, who was a fan before me), so we were all excited to meet him on our trip to Seoul,” Gunn continued. “One scene in particular in Vol 3 is inspired by Director J’s work and I can’t wait for all of you and him to see it!”

He concluded, “Director J also gave me an amazing piece of original art I can’t wait to hang in my home. A beautiful friendship is born!”
