Black Panther 2 Drama: Canceling Letitia Wright Has Failed… For Now

A week ago, rumors were started up by some of the access media types that Black Panther 2 star, Letitia Wright, was going to be either be canned or written out of the MCU. I chatted with some sources I have around Marvel, which are admittedly less than I have for Disney Parks and Lucasfilm, and within just a few minutes I was confident this was a nothing-burger. No, the Hollywood types are certainly not happy with Wright’s vaccine positions, but they also don’t need another Gina Carano situation. It seems they’ll settle for a Chris Pratt scenario instead. Wright is still employed, likely to keep employment, but there’s a quiet uneasiness with her Christianity and the positions she holds.

Well, first of all, as I’ve said before, there’s a change at Disney that not many of these journalists and access media types have caught onto it just yet. Hawkeye isn’t doing so hot on Disney+, they’re all freaking out praying that Boba Fett reinvigorates everything… because whoa if it’s doesn’t. So you’re telling me that the two Wall Street investor returns type leaders over The Walt Disney Company want to bring Marvel into a vaccine debate situation and kick out a young actress for her views for a redo of the Gina Carano situation? The same Gina Carano situation that essentially stalled out Disney+ subscriber numbers for almost an entire year now? Really?

Bullocks.

And just like with Chris Pratt, there is a concerted social media effort to make sure Letitia Wright is as loathed as she possibly can be. For now, the attempts to cancel her have completely fizzled out. But just take a look at the following tweets with thousands of likes and retweets and see if this looks like a logical crowd that might be dissuaded from hating the actress.

Meanwhile, you have to wonder if Giant Freaking Robot is ready to delete their twitter post bragging about their “scoop”?

Yeah, great job on breaking a fake story. Really good journalism going on there…

Fast forward to today:

Despite Controversy, Letitia Wright Will Star In ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

Consider all of these to be attempted self-fulfilling prophecies. The goal seems to be to generate enough negative pressure surrounding Letitia Wright that Marvel is convinced to write her out of the MCU… thus making the fake stories true. This is something we often see in political news and reporting, now making it’s way to entertainment and culture articles. Are you thrilled? I know I am. It makes it all the more important that sites like That Park Place exist.

So here’s the thing: I don’t know what your opinion on vaccines is, and you don’t know what mine is. We don’t cover medical news or medical information on this site. I also don’t know what Letitia Wright’s position is. Apparently she’s not taken the vaccine, but I have no idea if it is in regards to a religious objection, bodily autonomy objection, a medical condition that prevents it, etc. What I do know is that cancelling people for their views is a dangerous road to go down, and I’m not into authoritarian strategies for dealing with human beings. I’m up for conversations over cancellations. And I’m definitely up for reporting what seems to be true, not generating fake stories to punish those we disagree with.

For now, Letitia Wright is staying in the MCU. And that means WDW Pro 1, Giant Freaking Robot 0.

Hope she stands strong. It’s really staggering how much religious discrimination is going on. I thought we were past that, but I guess the Elites need to replace religion with State worship instead.
