As gamers worldwide await news on Grand Theft Auto 6, recent rumors that Rockstar has entered into partnerships with Taylor Swift and other Hollywood elites have the GTA community concerned.

Rockstar has long upheld a tradition of prioritizing collaboration with lesser-known voice actors to ensure quality in their games. This shift began after their challenging experience with Ray Liotta during the development of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, where the actor’s inconsistent behavior reportedly led them to rethink their casting approach.

Director Navid Khonsari, who worked on Vice City, noted that Liotta could be difficult to work with, stating, “In some sessions he was … into it, but then sometimes … he was very dark and couldn’t work.”

Dan Houser, Rockstar’s co-founder, echoed this sentiment in The Guardian back in 2013, mentioning that Liotta’s engagement varied between sessions, which added complexity to the process. These experiences likely influenced Rockstar’s decision to focus on talented but less prominent actors for major roles in subsequent projects.

On rare occasions, they’ve made exceptions, casting recognizable actors in supporting roles rather than front-and-center leads—such as in Red Dead Redemption 2, where Graham Greene, known for Dances with Wolves, portrayed Chief Rains Fall. However, unless you actively seek out these names, most of Rockstar’s voice actors remain relatively obscure, often finding fame only after starring in the GTA franchise or other titles, like Steven Ogg (Trevor Philips in GTA V) and Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2).

One thing is clear: Rockstar has never loudly advertised this practice nor leaned on celebrity status to market their games. This focus on talent over bloated celebrity personas has been a cornerstone of their creative ethos—until now, when that approach might be changing.

Rockstar’s New Tune: Mega-Celebs and Fortnite Cash Grabs

The same goes for musicians. As we all know, GTA is famous for its epic radio tunes, meticulously curated from a sprawling list of both well-known and obscure artists, perfectly balancing fame with underground cred. But now, that legacy’s looking a bit bleak.

It’s reported that Rockstar has dedicated an entire radio station in GTA 6 to DJ Khaled.

Yep, you heard that right, the “We the Best” screamer himself, according to a leak from Dexerto back in February 2025.

This might not seem like the end of the world for their focus on lesser-known talent over bloated celebs, but it’s not the only rumor swirling around.

Another whisper suggests Rockstar might’ve struck a deal with Taylor Swift, a mega-celebrity so inescapable she’s practically a human earworm, and even influencers like Adin Ross, to both promote and appear in the game in some capacity. None of this is confirmed, of course, since Rockstar’s NDA game is tighter than a librarian’s grip on overdue fines. The Devil himself would tip his hat to the ironclad contracts they must be wielding over lost souls in their legal department.

Then there’s the kicker: another rumor’s rearing its head, claiming Rockstar’s cozying up with Fortnite to weave GTA 6 into their battle-royale cash cow somehow—maybe a Vice City-themed skin pack or a metaverse crossover, who knows?

And, of all things, Roblox.

Fortnite

Digiday reported in February 2025 that Rockstar’s been chatting with top Fortnite and Roblox creators about custom experiences, possibly building on their FiveM acquisition to turn GTA 6 into some next-level user-generated playground.

This sparks a weird vibe of speculation that the old guard of Rockstar—those gritty, satire-loving rebels—is truly dead and buried. Worse, it breeds an odd fear that GTA 6 might not be the surefire masterpiece we’ve assumed. Since when does Rockstar play nice with competitors or pander to celebrities with egos so massive they’d demand Mount Rushmore be re-carved with their faces?

It leaves a sour taste, honestly. A game that once gleefully skewered American divas and roasted the hell out of U.S. culture might’ve been neutered. If these deals are real, you can bet those celebs won’t let Rockstar mock them without their holy, self-righteous approval—probably scribbled in gold ink on a contract thicker than their skull-sized entitlement.

Has Rockstar Finally Sold Its Soul?

As we reported earlier in this article and explored in detail in a previous article entitled “Is GTA 6 Woke?”, it’s starting to feel dangerously close to Rockstar succumbing to what I’d call the rot of entertainment.

Red Dead Redemption

It’s a symptom that’s done nothing but choke out creative thought—a festering miasma of “toxic positivity” infecting so many films and game companies. They’re obsessed with scrubbing out anything they think might offend, and now, with mega-celebrities like DJ Khaled and Taylor Swift rumored to be roped in to boost their numbers, it’s clear Rockstar isn’t in a good place.

The old saying needs a tweak: fear not the unknown gamer who just wants to escape reality for a bit, but dread the pampered celebrity who wants to ram their deluded, bubble-wrapped version of reality down your throat—pushing out sanctimonious drivel from their ivory towers, dictating how you should think while snorting their own overhyped fumes.

Do you think Rockstar has sold its soul through rumored partnerships with Taylor Swift?? Sound off in the comments below and let us know!
