Since the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Parks, Legend of Zelda fans have been hoping to see Hyrule brought to life, as well. Whispers of a Zelda-themed land have made the rounds at the resort, with early speculation pointing to Islands of Adventure. But now, new signs suggest that Universal has different plans—ones that could place Zelda in a much bigger spotlight at Epic Universe.

The Lost Continent Rumors

Originally, reports claimed that The Legend of Zelda would replace the Lost Continent area of Islands of Adventure—a section of the park that has largely remained unchanged for years. The speculation suggested that construction could begin as early as 2024, with a possible opening in 2027. Given that the Lost Continent no longer has a flagship attraction since the closure of Poseidon’s Fury, it seemed like a natural location for Universal to revamp with a Zelda theme.

However, those plans may have changed. While Universal has never officially confirmed a Zelda project, the latest signs suggest that if Hyrule is coming to the resort, it might not be at Islands of Adventure at all.

Signs of Zelda in Epic Universe

Universal’s Epic Universe, set to open in May 2025, will feature several themed lands, including a Super Nintendo World expansion. According to Attraction Magazine, new clues suggest that The Legend of Zelda might be Universal’s first major addition after the park’s grand opening.

Some of the biggest hints include:

  • The “Hero” Parking Lot Medallion – Each section of Epic Universe’s parking lot features a unique medallion design, corresponding to its name. The “Monster” section, for example, features a reanimated hand resembling Frankenstein’s Monster. However, the “Hero” section reportedly displays an image of a sword and shield—one that strongly resembles the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda.

  • Stained-Glass Windows in the Nintendo Super Star Store – Located outside Super Nintendo World, this retail space features stained-glass windows depicting various Nintendo characters. Among them? Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon—despite Zelda merchandise not currently being sold in the store.

  • A Hyrule-Themed Mosaic – Inside the same store, three floor mosaics celebrate Nintendo’s biggest franchises: Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, and The Legend of Zelda. The Zelda mosaic specifically features Hyrule itself, further reinforcing the franchise’s presence within the park.

With Universal Orlando Resort President Karen Irwin recently stating, “We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic,” it’s clear that expansions are already in the works. While nothing is confirmed, these details certainly suggest that Hyrule could be on its way.

There are two large expansion pads built into the areas on either side of Epic Universe, meaning there’s more than enough room to make Zelda a reality at Epic Universe.

Waiting on Official Word

As Epic Universe continues to take shape, the anticipation for a Zelda-themed expansion just might be valid. The signs—both subtle and intriguing—suggest that Hyrule might indeed be brought to life in ways we’ve only dreamed of.
