Walt Disney World has announced that Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Magic Kingdom will close temporarily beginning November 1, 2025, for a refurbishment. The downtime is expected to last approximately three weeks. The calendar already lists showtimes again on November 23rd, indicating the plan is to have the attraction back online ahead of Thanksgiving.
The closure is being described as a routine refurbishment rather than a major reconstruction. Disney has not disclosed the full scope of work.
Reports indicate one planned update may involve replacing the theater seating. As of now, Disney has not issued a formal statement detailing technical modifications like projection upgrades, sound system enhancements, or special effects for this refurbishment. In past refurbishments at other parks, seating and HVAC improvements were among updates made. Until further announcements appear, the precise nature of the work remains uncertain.
The speculation comes as fans note that PhilharMagic currently seems to be in good shape.
Context
Mickey’s PhilharMagic first opened at Magic Kingdom in 2003, replacing The Legend of the Lion King in the Fantasyland Theater. The show places Donald Duck at the center of a musical journey through scenes drawn from films such as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan. In 2021, the Magic Kingdom version added a Coco sequence featuring “Un Poco Loco.”

This refurbishment occurs amid multiple attraction closures at Disney World. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently closed for a longer-term overhaul with a target reopening in 2026. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin also closed in August 2025 for updates including vehicle and ride enhancements. Additionally, Tom Sawyer’s Island and Rivers of America were permanently closed ahead of construction for the new Cars-themed land.

Guests planning visits in early November 2025 should note that Mickey’s PhilharMagic will be unavailable from November 1st through November 22nd. During that time, indoor shows or other entertainment options should be substituted in plans.
In summary, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is scheduled for a roughly three‑week closure from November 1 to November 22, 2025, reopening on November 23 per current calendars. Visitors should check official Walt Disney World sources as their trip approaches and plan accordingly.
