The Disney Walkout organization affiliated with Disney employees, and confirmed by a Disney Advisory Council to contain elements of Disney leadership, is claiming this morning that particular Disney villains are “queer coded”. In a tweet, the organization states that Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Scar from The Lion King, and Jafar from Aladdin are all icons of queerness in some way. The tweet comments on the protests being somehow linked to support for a hypothetical little boy that identifies with the villains more than the princes and princesses of Disney.
"Doing this for the young boy who identified more with Scar, Ursula, and Jafar and all the other queer coded Disney villains more than any prince or princess. #DisneyDoBetter"

The proposed walkout for Disney employees is scheduled for today, March 22nd. Protests are scheduled in spite of Bob Chapek promising yesterday to create a action committee within the company to facilitate LGBTQ+ content for children, a listening tour, and a vow to publicly oppose Texas’ legislation that criminalizes some sex-change medical operations on minors (such as mastectomies for teenage girls).
