A new theater listing may have revealed the runtime for The Mandalorian and Grogu. According to the U.K. theater chain Odeon, the next Star Wars movie will be two hours and twenty minutes long. The theater’s website lists the movie on its coming soon page. While tickets are not available for pre-order, the listing has sparked speculation among fans.

Notably, 140 minutes works out to only seven minutes longer than the combined runtime of the first three episodes of the third season of the Disney+ series. Adding some credibility to the rumor is the fact that the suggested length is in line with other Disney-era Star Wars films. Both The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker are roughly the same.

If the runtime proves accurate, the film would land squarely in the range of recent Star Wars theatrical releases, suggesting a full-scale cinematic adventure rather than an extended television-style story.

The Placeholder Possibility

However, some users online have pointed out that Odeon often uses two hours and twenty minutes as a placeholder for upcoming films. Both Supergirl and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping are listed with the same runtime as The Mandalorian and Grogu. The suggestion that three of this year’s biggest franchise films will all be exactly the same length seems implausible to many.

YouTuber Star Wars Meg posted on X that Odeon also listed the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron with that runtime.

Patty Jenkins’ project was announced in December 2020 and given a placeholder date around December 2023, which may be why it was listed on Odeon’s website. However, Rogue Squadron never went into production. Many believe Disney and Lucasfilm have shelved it. The example has led some fans to question whether the runtime listed for The Mandalorian and Grogu should be taken seriously.

Jon Favreau Promises a Lean Story

AMC Theaters also has The Mandalorian and Grogu listed on its coming soon page. However, it does not list a runtime. For now, the listing suggests Odeon may simply be using the runtime as a placeholder.

Although the exact length of the film remains unclear, director Jon Favreau has previously discussed how he approached the film’s pacing and storytelling. In an exclusive interview with Collider, Favreau was specifically asked if he envisioned The Mandalorian and Grogu having a two-to-two-and-a-half-hour runtime. “This is an adventure. You want to lean into the action and the aesthetic and the momentum of that,” he said. “You want it to always feel lean and keep the storytelling propulsive.”

While that was neither a yes nor a no, his answer leaves open the possibility of a two-plus-hour film.

No Confirmation

Ultimately, the reported runtime for The Mandalorian and Grogu may say more about how theaters prepare listings than it does about the film itself. Until Disney or Lucasfilm confirm an official length, the Odeon listing remains speculation—another reminder of how quickly small details can turn into rumors when anticipation for a new Star Wars film is high.

When you take eight episodes of a season that is ridiculously padded and agonizingly slow-paced, and condense it down, you have a single film that’s STILL bloated and too long.

As a 3D artist, these days, I can point out errors in the crappy movie screenshots.
Top image: The cutsie little telescope is not aligned with the rodent-baby’s eye. An amateur posing mistake.
And, that metal helmet, which looks like a giant d*ld*, could easily reflect light, giving away their location.
Second to top image: That vehicle must be still, or moving slowly, because the relaxed posture of the characters don’t seem like they’re experiencing wind resistance, or whatever, especially as they’re lightweight babies.
Notice, too, that their hands are all relaxed, instead of posed against the vehicle correctly. No one rides handlebars with their fingers flat. (Sure it’s an alien, but, still). Only a few finger tips are even in contact with the vehicle. Amateur, lazy posing once again. Outsourced to India? Honestly, this isn’t even AI, it’s not even good enough!
And these are promo-shots, it’s absolutely pathetic.
Before they fired Whitey (because DEI) that sloppiness wouldn’t have happened. I could go on, but can’t be arsed. It’s pathetic, amateur work.
