The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is as remarkable for what it does not show as what it does. Fans hoping for their first official reveal of Sadie Sink’s new character may have to wait until the next trailer to see her in costume. Similarly, there are no hints that The Hulk will be in the film—just Bruce Banner. Instead, audiences get to see Peter Parker/Spider-Man dealing with the consequences of a world that has forgotten him.

After the events of the last movie, No Way Home, Peter’s best friends don’t remember who he is—including his secret identity. The Spider-Man in the Brand New Day trailer appears more serious than his usual quippy self.
The top comment on YouTube, from user @whxpz_, says, “Never thought I’d see Spider-Man this depressed, bro is going through it.”
Introducing the New Characters
After opening with a brief recap, the trailer quickly establishes that Frank Castle/The Punisher will be in the film. The two superheroes appear to have a confrontational relationship. Frank shoots at Spider-Man, and Spidey retaliates by smashing through a windshield and pushing The Punisher out the back.
When Frank starts to drop an R-rated profanity, he gets his mouth webbed shut.

In the next scene, Peter is shown at a party, hovering around his friends, Ned and M.J. “Sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing, even if it breaks Peter Parker’s heart,” he narrates. However, Peter has other problems. When something starts happening to his body, Peter goes to Bruce Banner for help—but like everyone else, The Hulk has no idea who he really is.

Raising the Stakes
A new voice in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer explains that spiders have three life cycles. Some speculate it may be Keith David, though this has not been officially confirmed. He goes on to explain that between cycles, the spider can become vulnerable to threats. The trailer underscores this with shots of Spider-Man facing off against armed gunmen, the supervillain Scorpion, and the secret collective of mystical ninjas known as The Hand.

While the central villain remains unclear, as has traditionally been the case in Spider-Man stories, his biggest opponent is life itself.
Online Reaction
The trailer’s unseen narrator promises at the end that spiders that make it through the life cycle change experience a sort of rebirth. In its final moments, the trailer’s music swells, suggesting that the entire film won’t be as depressing as it seems. It even ends with a bit of ironic humor.

Some users online have called the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer “emotionally hollow.” However, four hours after its release on YouTube, the official video had approximately 249,000 upvotes to only 2,800 downvotes. Ultimately, fan reaction in the coming days will tell the full story.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day won’t hit theaters until July 31, but fans will likely see much more from the film before then. Depending on fan reaction to this first look, the next trailer may adopt a different tone and reveal more about the film’s overall style and story.

Mark Ruffalo = AIDS
I only watched the first Holland movie and that was a waste of my time. Glad I didn’t bother with any of the sequels.
The one with Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire was pretty great. I’d recommend it.
Still has Holland, Zendaya and a race swapped Electro. I’ll pass.
I did enjoy the Toby M. ones for what they are. And, yes, relative to the recent efforts, they were by far the strongest, of course.
If something of this quality came out now, it would be shocking.
What they do today is race-swap it, subvert it, and pack in THE MESSAGE. and make it look like sh1t.
We don’t want dark and gritty for Spiderman. That’s Spiderman trying to be Batman. Hell, even my fave Batman movies, the Tim Burton ones, were dark and gothy, not dark and gritty. They were fun. This trailer looks boring, and, a DEI chick in it does not appeal. We want a gorgeous white chick in it.
Ruffalo – Insta-boycott right there. It’s our duty not to fund these TDS activists who hail from Epstein’s Island.
