Marvel is no longer dancing around it. The studio behind Daredevil: Born Again has openly confirmed that Season 2 draws direct parallels to President Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), leaning fully into real-world political inspiration as part of its storyline.

It’s the latest in a long series of Marvel properties to lean into modern progressive politics. And, if recent history is any indicator, this could prove detrimental to the show’s viewership on Disney+ and public perception of Marvel going into Avengers: Doomsday.

According to a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the comparisons aren’t fan speculation—they’re intentional.

Marvel Admits the Trump and ICE Parallels

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Dario Scardapane and executive producer Sana Amanat acknowledged that viewers will clearly see similarities between the show’s events and modern political realities. In other words, Daredevil: Born Again is yet another modern TV show about Trump.

Scardapane explained that during post-production, the connections became unavoidable, stating that the series entered an “art-imitates-life place.”

Season 2 continues Wilson Fisk’s rise to power as Mayor of New York, where he deploys an anti-vigilante task force that operates in ways directly compared to ICE—complete with raids, detentions, and people being taken off the streets.

The visual language reinforces the comparison as well. Black-uniformed agents, unmarked vans, and holding areas resembling cages are all part of the imagery used in the series.

Amanat framed the story as one centered on an authoritarian figure weaponizing the system against certain groups, something she says fits squarely within Marvel’s tradition of political storytelling.

“History Repeats Itself” — Marvel Leans Into Political Messaging

Scardapane didn’t just acknowledge modern parallels—he tied the show to historical events and authoritarian regimes.

He pointed to past figures like Nero, Pinochet, and Franco as examples of leaders who “follow a script,” suggesting the show is intentionally drawing from both current events and historical patterns.

One scene reportedly echoes the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, while others draw inspiration from real-world incidents involving law enforcement and civilian confrontations.

In other words, this isn’t subtle. It’s baked into the DNA of the season.

From Street-Level Crime Drama to Political Commentary

The Trump parallels mark a notable shift in tone for Daredevil.

The original Netflix series built its reputation on grounded storytelling—crime, morality, and character-driven conflict inside Hell’s Kitchen. While it wasn’t devoid of themes, it rarely felt like it was trying to mirror current political headlines.

Now, Marvel appears to be repositioning the series as something more overtly topical.

Season 2 is being framed not just as a battle between Daredevil and Kingpin, but as a broader “resistance” story against an authoritarian system.

The Risk for Marvel Moving Forward

This shift comes at an interesting time.

Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again struggled to generate sustained momentum, failing to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings despite a strong launch window.

That raises a bigger question heading into Season 2: Is leaning harder into political messaging going to bring audiences back—or push more of them away?

Marvel clearly isn’t hedging its bets. The studio is openly promoting the real-world parallels before the season even premieres, signaling confidence in the direction.

But it also means the conversation around Daredevil: Born Again is no longer just about the story.

It’s about what the story is trying to say—and whether audiences are still interested in hearing it.

That’s what happens when they hire people with no creativity and no interest in the source material. They get their ideas from headlines and their own personal opinions, and then they force it down the viewers’ throats.

Are party-political broadcasts regulated in the States?
Disney is basically making propaganda ads for the Democrats. Seems to me that this is anti-democratic.

Along with the dems’ vote-fraud systems, of course. They’re Left-wing fascists (all fascism is actually left wing).

Oh, for ****’s sake.

And I confirm that I am done with Disney Daredevil.
