Kara’s Emotional Arc and Early Stakes

The trailer then begins playing “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.” While needle-drops are a James Gunn signature, he isn’t directing this film. The stakes are immediately made clear. Krypto has been poisoned, and Kara has only three days to find an antidote. As she races across the universe to save her dog, she also takes on the responsibility of protecting a young girl, Ruthye, whose “innocent family” was murdered.

Two familiar plotlines and a well-worn character arc might have some fans rolling their eyes. A reaction video posted on the Nerdrotic Daily YouTube account is titled “One Trope after Another.” What Supergirl may lack in originality will likely need to be compensated by spectacle—and that’s exactly where the trailer tries to deliver.

I had my fill of Krypto after Gunn’s Superman. I have no desire to watch yet another film revolve around Gunn’s obsession with animals.
Also, this sounds an awful lot like the plot of Guardians 3.

Downs is exactly what I think of when I see this actress. I can see why they’d want to cast someone… odd looking for House of the Dragon, but Supergirl isn’t supposed to look retarded.

There will be few surprises in the movie, as most of the “highlights” will have been shown in the trying-too-hard trailers. As for me, I have been boycotting woke Hollywood for over 10 years, now. And, this SuperBrat movie won’t alter that!
I liked this movie better when I saw it 15 years ago when it had a male star and was called “John Wick”. I’m certainly not standing in line to watch Joan Wick except with a CGI dog.
And, once again, I find myself completely cold to this self-destructive, nihilistic version of Kara. And “House of the Dragon Chick-with-downs” does not strike me as a Supergirl that is going to stick in the minds of viewers. Even the CW girl was more memorable and seemed to better embody, physically and personality-wise, with the character.
