A first look at the Avengers: Doomsday trailer has finally been described—just not by Marvel itself.
After attending Disney’s CinemaCon panel, Film Threat’s Chris Gore and Alan Ng detailed the event exclusive teaser trailer for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. Despite the footage not being released publicly—or even leaked—key moments from the trailer paint a clear picture of what was shown: spectacle-heavy action with little emphasis on story.

Marvel is apparently going all-in on power displays, legacy characters, and crossover chaos.
Doctor Doom Immediately Established as a Threat Beyond Thanos
The biggest takeaway from Fore and Ng’s recap of the trailer is the introduction of Doctor Doom—and Marvel wastes no time showing just how dangerous he is.
According to Film Threat, the trailer features a moment where Thor attacks Doom with Stormbreaker… only for Doom to stop the weapon that cut Thanos cold.

That single moment appears to be the trailer’s mission statement: Doom is on a completely different level, even compared to Thanos.
Thor is also shown warning others about the incoming threat, framing Doom as an unstoppable force unlike anything the Avengers have faced before.
Captain America Returns With Mjolnir
Another major highlight is the return of Steve Rogers, once again apparently wielding Thor’s original hammer Mjolnir.
This moment alone appears designed to trigger nostalgia for Avengers: Endgame, signaling that Marvel is leaning heavily on its legacy heroes to anchor this new phase.

It’s not subtle—but it doesn’t need to be. This is crowd-pleasing imagery meant to remind audiences of what worked before. Whether or not it will succeed after several lackluster phases of Marvel storytelling remains to be seen.
Multiverse-Style Matchups Take Center Stage
Beyond Doom, the trailer reportedly features a rapid-fire montage of hero matchups that truly frame this as a multiverse crossover event.
Among the standout moments:
- Gambit vs. Shang-Chi
- Yelena Belova fighting Mystique (in disguise)
- Appearances from Professor X and Magneto
- Cyclops going “full Cyclops” in combat

There are also references to Wakanda and Namor’s world, suggesting a wide-ranging conflict that spans multiple factions and locations.
In short: this is Marvel throwing everything on the screen.
A Teaser Focused on Hype—Not Story
For all the action and character moments, one thing is notably absent: any real sense of story.
The trailer reportedly runs under two minutes and functions more as a teaser than a narrative setup. Instead of plot, it delivers extended glimpses of characters, battles, and scale. That’s not uncommon for a teaser trailer.

Marvel appears to be prioritizing excitement and recognition over exposition—essentially selling the idea of Doomsday before explaining what it actually is.
Marvel Is Selling the Sizzle—But Where’s the Steak?
The overall impression from the CinemaCon trailer is clear: Avengers: Doomsday is being positioned as an event film built on power scaling, nostalgia, and crossover spectacle.

Doctor Doom is established as overwhelmingly powerful. Legacy heroes like Captain America are brought back into the spotlight. And the roster of characters spans multiple corners of the Marvel universe.
But underneath all of that, the actual story remains a mystery.
Right now, this trailer isn’t a full meal—it’s a preview—a carefully constructed tease designed to generate buzz without revealing too much.

All I can think of is the face of South Park’s Cartman as a ‘Member berry. “Remember? Remember?”
I never really kept up with Doom, but it will be a stretch to explain to viewers how he is more powerful than the Infinity Gauntlet equipped Thanos from the MCU. This is a character who starts out basically with the power of a God (Titan Eternal) who then got the infinity gauntlet, turned back time so he could rip the Mindstone from Vision’s head, then killed half the universe (maybe the multiverse?) with one snap.
They’re trying to say “Hey, Doom is so powerful he can stop Stormbreaker with a thought!!” but Doom is apparently engaged with Thor who goes into a big, telegraphed attack.
It makes me wonder if this is a false equivalence. Thor effectively sucker-punched Thanos with Stormbreaker in Infinity War. It was the first time Thanos had seen Thor since the Asgardian ship and the first time Thanos dealt with Stormbreaker.
In Endgame, when Thanos has time to prepare, he’s able to fend off Thor and Cap with Stormbreaker and Mjolnir without too many problems. He even goes toe-to-toe with the Kevin Fiege’s hoped for “most powerful person in the universe”, the cosmically overpowered MCU Captain Marvel.
On the other hand, this is the same company that brought us a Scarlet Witch who killed the hero cabal of that alternate earth in Doc Strange, including beating Professor X in a mind-mind battle.
Just like for F4, I am praying to any gods who will listen for this stupid movie to fail, to bomb (relative to it’s disgusting budget).
The only way to save the patient is to kill him.
Stop, Marvel, please stop. You’ve already given me enough reasons not to watch this, but now I read that Temu Liu is returning as Chang-Shit, Master of Phuk Yu. Terrible.
Doom is my absolute favorite character in all of fiction, but I have zero hope I’ll ever see a good version of him in live action during my lifetime. I’d love to be proven wrong, but I won’t hold my breath either.
