Rumors about the Mystic Fountain possibly closing this week continue to spread at Universal Islands of Adventure. Although Universal Orlando has not confirmed the reported closure date, Annual Passholder groups and cast have shared the rumor. Several theme park news outlets reported that the attraction may close as early as May 15.

The Mystic Fountain sits inside Sindbad’s Bazaar in the Lost Continent section of Islands of Adventure. Guests can speak with the fountain, with a cast member responding from a backstage spot. The fountain also occasionally sprays guests nearby.

If the Mystic Fountain closing rumor proves accurate, the attraction would join several former Lost Continent experiences that already closed over the past decade. The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad ended operations in 2018. Poseidon’s Fury permanently closed in 2023.

Lost Continent Redevelopment Continues

Reports about the possible Mystic Fountain closing surfaced shortly after Universal Orlando announced redevelopment plans for the Lost Continent area. The company confirmed that the area will close in phases to make room for a new not revealed as-of-yet themed land. Universal also announced that Mythos Restaurant will close in 2027.

The fountain remains one of the few original opening-day experiences still operating in the Lost Continent. Many guests recognize the attraction as part of the land’s original design.

Universal has not revealed what will replace the Lost Continent. The company has only described the project as a new themed area. Online speculation connected the project to franchises such as Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda, but Universal hasn’t confirmed those rumors.

Construction activity around the Lost Continent increased in recent months. Work walls appeared near several sections of the land. Reports also noted demolition permits tied to former attraction spaces.

Coins From the Fountain Support Give Kids The World Village

The Mystic Fountain also connects to a long-running charitable tradition at Central Florida theme parks. The change tossed in goes to Give Kids The World Village.

Give Kids The World Village is an 89-acre nonprofit resort in Kissimmee that provides free weeklong vacations for children with critical illnesses and their families. The organization works with partners including Universal Orlando Resort and Make-A-Wish to give families time away from hospitals and medical treatment.

Universal Orlando has supported Give Kids The World for decades through donations, volunteer programs, and park access for visiting families.

Changes Continue Across Islands of Adventure

A Mystic Fountain closing would mark another major change inside Islands of Adventure. Parts of the Lost Continent already disappeared during the expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The former Dueling Dragons roller coaster later became Dragon Challenge before Universal permanently closed the ride in 2017. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure eventually opened in that location.

Universal Orlando continues to update attractions and dining locations across the resort. Recent announcements included changes involving Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and CityWalk. Those plans include a replacement for Thunder Falls Terrace and a reworked Horror Make-Up Show.

For now, the future of the attraction remains uncertain. Until Universal Orlando releases an official statement, reports about the Mystic Fountain closing remain unconfirmed.
