GTA VI is one of the most anticipated games of all time. It has reportedly been in development since 2014, with Rockstar confirming active development in 2022. However, it has also been delayed twice. Last May, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick assured fans that the game would release on November 19, 2026. Even so, many remained skeptical.

The opening of pre-orders sends a strong signal that the studio is confident in its release plans.
How Much Will GTA VI Cost?
Given the unusually long development cycle, fans have been concerned that GTA VI could arrive with an unusually high price tag. Additionally, rumors that production costs may range between $1 billion and $2 billion fueled speculation that the latest entry could cost more than $100.
However, in an interview with The Game Business, Zelnick indicated a more conventional price range of $70 to $80.
That said, GTA VI will likely be offered in deluxe or premium editions, which could push the price as high as $90 or even $200. Players who need to upgrade their PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S systems may also have the option of purchasing hardware bundles. With the rising cost of consoles, some gamers could end up spending close to $1,000 to play the long-awaited title.

For now, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not announced pricing for GTA VI, which may remain unknown until the game becomes available for pre-order.
What We Know About GTA VI
Fans have already received multiple trailers and details about the game’s protagonists, Jason and Lucia, the first female lead character in the franchise’s history. As expected, GTA VI will be an open-world game set in a fictionalized version of Florida.

The official description on Rockstar’s website reads: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Often recognized for its cinematic storytelling, the Grand Theft Auto series has consistently delivered ambitious narratives, and GTA VI is expected to continue that tradition. Unsurprisingly, Rockstar is keeping the ending firmly under wraps.
Rumors circulated in 2022 that the game might scale back some of the franchise’s offensive humor and violent content. However, the record-breaking trailer released in May 2025 showcased all the chaos, violence, and excess fans have come to expect from GTA VI.
One Step Closer To Vice City
When it launches, GTA VI is expected to become one of the biggest entertainment releases in history. Analysts and investors anticipate over $1 billion in sales in a very short amount of time. In what many believe was a strategic move, Xbox delayed the release of its highly anticipated Fable reboot until 2027, clearing the way for Rockstar’s blockbuster to dominate the holiday season.
With pre-orders finally opening on June 25, fans are now one step closer to returning to Vice City.
