According to Deadline, Wonder Project’s hit biblical drama House of David has officially been renewed for Season 3 on Wonder Project, and eventually Prime Video. The announcement comes after Season 1 was seen by 40 million viewers, with reports suggesting that Season 2 built on that momentum.

The cast also confirmed the news in a video shared to social media.

The renewal also comes as House of David continues to earn strong audience support. On Criticless, the series currently holds an 84% “Most Excellent” score, reflecting the overwhelmingly positive reception it has received from viewers.

David’s Story Continues

Prime Video confirmed the renewal just days after the second season concluded its wider release on the streaming service. The series, created by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, stars Michael Iskander as the future king of Israel and chronicles David’s rise from shepherd to legendary ruler.

House of David Season 3 will pick up after the events of the second season, with David becoming “a hunted outlaw, forced to hide among his enemies” while continuing his journey toward the throne. According to the official synopsis, the next chapter will focus on the sacrifices, betrayals, and difficult choices David must face before ultimately becoming king.

“Whether audiences have known David through Scripture or are encountering him from a fresh perspective, we hope the series continues to reveal why his story has resonated across generations,” Erwin and Gunn said in a statement.

The series has always been envisioned as a multi-season retelling of David’s life, making the renewal less of a surprise than a confirmation that Prime Video intends to see the story through.

A Major Win for Wonder Project

The renewal is another significant victory for Wonder Project, the faith-based studio founded by filmmaker Jon Erwin and former Netflix executive Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten. Since partnering with Amazon MGM Studios, the company has quickly established itself as a major player in family-friendly and faith-centered entertainment.

House of David was one of Wonder Project’s flagship productions and helped launch the company’s premium subscription offering on Prime Video. The studio has since expanded its slate with additional films and television projects, continuing to emphasize stories centered on faith, family, and purpose.

The announcement also reinforces the growing demand for high-quality faith-based programming on major streaming platforms. It was a trend that may have started with The Chosen, which depicts the life of Jesus. House of David has emerged as one of the clearest examples that these productions can attract mainstream viewership while also earning strong audience approval, giving Wonder Project additional momentum as it expands its slate.

House of David’s Season 3 renewal also comes shortly after Prime Video opted not to renew Wonder Project’s family comedy It’s Not Like That, making House of David the clear centerpiece of the partnership moving forward.

No Release Date Yet

Prime Video has not announced when production on Season 3 will begin, nor has it revealed a release window.
