Urban violence in the United States is reaching a fever pitch. There has been evidence for about two years now that tourists are choosing to stay away from some of the metro areas of the country, instead heading to national parks, rural countrysides and placid beaches. Surely we’re reaching an apex that will result in a serious review of our views towards law enforcement, the rule of law and youth violence. Not since the seventies have we seen a situation in the country where people actually have to be cautious about trips to New York City, Los Angeles, and even theme parks like Knott’s Berry Farm… and now Universal Studios Florida.
Just last week we saw a massive fight break out in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom between two families. Now this week we’re watching Universal Studios Florida have to evacuate their CityWalk area connecting the theme parks and hotels. The cause: youth violence, potential gunshots and yet more chaos caused by a degradation of society.

A witness on the ground, Ryan Ward, had the following report on what occurred:
Orlando PD is currently saying the reason for the evacuation was just over a bunch of “juveniles” fighting in the parking garage, with “no shots fired”… despite almost everyone I spoke with on the way out saying they heard gunfire—hearing at least one shot myself.

Granted, this could just be the standard/go-to “we need to quickly get people out of here” line, just to make sure they get moving. But usually the idea is to keep people exiting peacefully (which—thankfully—despite that line being used, they did/they didn’t stampede out/etc)

Saw other tweets saying the goal in closing/evacuating hours early was Orlando PD’s way of—in a word—“trying to work to reunite families who were separated in the commotion.”
But if so, why did 2-3 separate officers tell us multiple variations of “get out/it isn’t safe!”?🤔

Could be nothing/just accidental poor choice of words. Yet—Vegas keeps coming to mind…where other hotels miles away had reports of shots fired, & ppl were told it wasn’t true/it was an echo/etc. Not to mention the Florida Mall here in Orlando had a similar event 8hrs prior

Important to note though, that—conversely—I’ve found that many people simply have no idea what gunfire even actually sounds like… and so therefore they’re usually not the best forms of confirmation anyway, one way or the other😂

Above clip was all I managed to catch; you can barely see the head of the police officer carrying an assault rifle
Same in this next clip here—the head of a 2nd police officer w/ an AR…again, all this for a scuffle among juveniles almost a mile away in the parking garage?🤔

Later, after we were evacuated & made it to the security checkpoint hub (where Fresh Eats is located) we could hear a woman yelling about something [clip recorded at roughly 11:25pm EST]:

Frankly, I’m tired of us having to report on this kind of anarchy and lawlessness across the country. I’m ready for us to start teaching our kids to be good citizens, take responsibility, find meaning, and that everybody is worthy of dignity and love. Enough of this lack of respect for others and enough of this violence. We’ve got idiots with bladed knuckles trying to slash government officials, we have battle royales at tourist destinations… let’s stop this ridiculous experiment. I’d like to go on vacations without worrying that I need to defend my family from attackers.
