Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has officially closed for the season as of Monday, September 8, 2025. The water park’s last day of guest operation was Sunday, September 7th. According to multiple official sources and park operating calendars, the closure is part of a scheduled seasonal refurbishment. Disney has not released an official reopening date, and there is currently no information on when the park will resume operations.
This closure aligns with a long-standing operational pattern at Walt Disney World. Blizzard Beach and its sister water park, Typhoon Lagoon, alternate annual refurbishment periods. Since the 2020 lockdowns, the resort has typically operated only one water park at a time.
For several years, Disney has closed one park for maintenance while keeping the other open. This streamlined staffing and reduced operational costs during non-peak seasons. Blizzard Beach’s closure this fall marks a return to that strategy after both water parks were open concurrently this past summer for the first time since 2019. In recent years, Blizzard Beach closed in May to reopen in November.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon remains open and is now the sole water park operating at the resort. Guests who are visiting during this period and had plans to visit Blizzard Beach will be redirected to Typhoon Lagoon, which continues to operate on a daily basis. Those staying at Disney Resort hotels who receive complimentary water park access on their check-in day will also have access to Typhoon Lagoon only.
Although the refurbishment is routine, Disney has not provided any details on what specific work will be conducted during the downtime. No updates have been shared regarding upgrades, new features, or improvements, and no permits related to construction or enhancements have been made public as of this writing. In previous years, refurbishment work has included general maintenance, repainting, and occasional safety upgrades, but the company rarely shares specifics unless major updates are planned.
Reopening Date Unannounced
The Walt Disney World website and other official communication channels currently show operating hours for Typhoon Lagoon through mid-November, but Blizzard Beach has no listed availability for any dates in the coming months.

The lack of a clear reopening timeline may impact some guests’ travel planning. For now, guests are advised to monitor official Disney updates for changes to the water park schedule and any announcements regarding reopening plans.
In the meantime, Typhoon Lagoon continues to serve as the primary water park option for visitors. Disney has not stated whether it plans to alternate the parks again later this year, which could result in Typhoon Lagoon closing for refurbishment once Blizzard Beach reopens. Until further notice, Blizzard Beach will remain closed for seasonal maintenance, and Typhoon Lagoon will accommodate all water park guests.
