Now that the beloved yellow bear is in the public domain, studios have been jumping at the opportunity to adapt it how they want without Disney’s iron hand. Most recently, the world bore witness to the horror movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Though not financially successful, the studio behind it is still moving forward with a sequel, as well as other horror films based on Disney IPs entering the public domain.

An exclusive scoop from Deadline announced that horror studio A24 is developing a new movie based on The Masque of the Red Death, one of Edgar Allan Poe’s most popular works. Deadline claimed it will be “a wildly revisionist and darkly comedic take on the short story.” Most of the details are currently unknown, but Deadline believes the film will begin shooting this year.

To the shock of many, Gina Carano appears in the new Star Wars Encyclopedia, published by DK and released this month. However, there’s absolutely no mention of any characters associated with The Acolyte. Carano’s character, Cara Dune, gets a large photo and a full write up detailing her history, military service, and adventures with The Mandalorian and Grogu. Dune was prominently featured in the first two season of The Mandalorian and was set to receive her own spin-off series on Disney+ called Rangers of The New Republic.
