OPINION: Hasbro Keeps Losing the People Who Made it Great as Dungeons & Dragons Creative Director Resigns

I had previously written about Hasbro and its ability to kill golden gooses. No sooner had I finished that article than it looks like they’ve done so once more, this time to one of their most lucrative franchises – Dungeons & Dragons.

Per his own post on X, Chrisopher Perkins has announced that he will be retiring from his role as Creative Director at Wizards of the Coast, the subset of Hasbro Inc. that is responsible for the sprawling Dungeons & Dragons IP.

OPINION: Let’s Go Out To The Movies!!!! (Or Maybe NOT!)—Confused Movie Theaters Just Got More Confused

Believe it or not, in their misguided quest to find new ways to entice customers back into movie houses the exhibitors are getting more and more crazed and deluded.

I mentioned in my previous piece how it wasn’t the “aeroplanes” of screen size, sound, or “exclusive windows” before they go online or other enhancements that killed the movie biz but the lack of “beauty” in the crummy movies themselves.

But now, it seems, something new has been added to the mix of mayhem: MINECRAFT is spurring a whole new round of in-theater antics thanks to that dubious ChiCom gift to the world called TikTok.

OPINION: Disney’s Grand Mistake at the Grand Floridian—Upcoming Renovation Will Add a Bar and Remake Iconic Lobby Into Bland Floridian at Walt Disney World

This week, Disney Parks Blog released new concept art and design plans for a reimagined Grand Floridian Resort lobby. The changes are being sold as a “refurbishment,” a light refresh meant to breathe new life into the resort. But what’s really happening is far more insidious: Disney is dismantling one of its most elegant, timeless spaces and replacing it with something entirely ordinary that’s soaked in alcohol.

OPINION: What’s going on with Hasbro? It’s a Toy Company That Doesn’t Want to Make Toys

OPINION: What’s going on with Hasbro? It’s a Toy Company That Doesn’t Want to Make Toys

Per Hasbro’s CEO Chris Cocks, they have announced that as of 2025 they will be moving away from physical toys while focusing more on digital play (i.e. video games). Since that time we’ve paradoxically seen one of the largest toymakers in the world begin to license out their properties to other toymakers to produce.

I’m not the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, so it may not be my place to say, but as a toy collector I feel that this is a mis-step on the part of Hasbro and its CEO. At the same time, unfortunately I can understand why they feel forced to go this route, and it has to do with both the mistakes they have made as well as those of their partners.

Minecraft’s Box Office Success Sends Theme Parks in Race for Game Expansions Like Epic Universe’s Super Nintendo World

The Minecraft Movie just made $80 million in its second weekend and the race to get it into theme parks is on. At the same time, companies are proverbially licking their chops at the idea of using game properties in expansions to take a bit out of Disney. But if The...

Disney’s Snow White Production Pollution Exceeds Fast & Furious as Company Continues to Lecture the World on Climate

As if things couldn’t get worse for Disney’s struggling live-action remake of Snow White, a new report reveals that the production has left behind a massive carbon footprint—larger than some of Hollywood’s most explosive action films. Yes, according to The Guardian, the scale of the Snow White production’s pollution even outpaced the most recent Fast & Furious movie.

Disney World’s Potential Response to Epic Universe Could Be Utterly Crippled by Chinese Tariff Escalations, Devastating the Company

Disney World’s Potential Response to Epic Universe Could Be Utterly Crippled by Chinese Tariff Escalations, Devastating the Company

Universal Studio's new Epic Universe theme park is indeed incredible. It eclipses, by far, anything Disney has to offer. But thoughts that Disney could begin building a response for the next five years may all be dashed away by the new Chinese tariffs. For Bob Iger,...
