Before even airing the first season of its new show, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that not only is Daredevil: Born Again season 2 happening—it’s filming in just a few months.

Marvel finds itself in a precarious position. The once evergreen cinematic universe has seen a wealth of bad press in recent years as critical panning from longtime fans has led to diminishing box office returns. We saw this with films like The Marvels and The Eternals, both of which lost money for the superhero studio.

While Marvel still gets the odd hit here and there, like this year’s smash hit Deadpool & Wolverine, MCU movies are no longer a guaranteed license to print money. But one project in the works over at Marvel that seems to have captured the attention of a fanbase starved for quality is the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again

Originally slated for 18 episodes, Born Again was intended to be a soft reboot for Daredevil, inserting him into the MCU after de-canonizing the popular Marvel show Daredevil, which aired three seasons on Netflix. It will see Charlie Cox return as blind attorney and crime fighter Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil. It will also have Vincent D’onofrio returning as Murdock’s arch nemesis Wilson Fisk, AKA the Kingpin of crime.

The show reportedly went through multiple rewrites, with the season shortened to just nine episodes. Disney also confirmed that it was re-canonizing the Netflix shows into the MCU, making this less a reboot and more of an unofficial Daredevil season four.

Kevin Feige recently confirmed that not only will the show have a second season, but that it starts filming in February 2025. That means when the show debuts its first season in March, they’ll already be well underway producing Daredevil: Born Again season 2. It could also mean that fans can expect Daredevil: Born Again season 2 sometime in 2026.

Feige stated in a recent interview with Omelete (translated by Agents of Fandom) that Daredevil: Born Again will be the first step in a new era of Marvel television.

“We’re really excited to premiere the first season next year, when we’ll be filming the second season,” Feige said. “We like the idea of developing series for multiple seasons. After all, that’s one of the coolest things about television.”

Since producing original television content for the Disney+ streaming service, Marvel hasn’t double dipped much for multiple seasons. The only notable shows in Marvel’s TV line up to receive a second season on Disney+ are Loki, which ended after two seasons, and What If? which will end this December after its third season.

Both Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk have already been integrated into the MCU prior to Daredevil: Born Again. Fisk served as the primary antagonist in both Marvel’s Hawkeye and Echo shows, while Murdock/Daredevil showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She Hulk, and for a brief cameo appearance in Echo.

Are you glad that Marvel is moving ahead with Daredevil: Born Again season 2? Can this series re-capture the magic of the original Netflix show? Sound off and let us know your thoughts!
