Disney has introduced a limited-time discounted bundle for its streaming services ahead of the Disney+ debut of Zootopia 2. The promotion arrives roughly one week before the animated sequel begins streaming on the platform.
Disney confirmed that Zootopia 2 will begin streaming on Disney+ on March 11, 2026. The company shared the announcement through its official Disney+ press channels.
The promotional offer targets new and eligible returning subscribers. Under the deal, customers can subscribe to the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle for $4.99 per month for the first three months. After that introductory period ends, the subscription returns to its regular monthly price.

Disney stated that the offer remains available through March 24, 2026.
Streaming platforms often introduce promotional discounts around the arrival of major titles. These campaigns can encourage new subscriptions while also drawing former users back to a service. In this case, the promotion appears shortly before one of Disney’s most notable animated releases reaches streaming.
Streaming Debut Follows Theatrical and Digital Releases
Zootopia 2 first premiered in theaters on November 26, 2025. The sequel continues the story introduced in the original Zootopia, which Disney released in 2016.
The film again follows police officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they investigate a new case in the city of Zootopia, and the misadventures that ensue as they try to learn how to be partners. This time, the story introduces a mysterious reptile named Gary De’Snake. The character disrupts the city’s order and becomes central to the investigation.

Ginnifer Goodwin returned to voice Judy Hopps, while Jason Bateman again voiced Nick Wilde. Actor Ke Huy Quan joined the cast as Gary De’Snake. The film was directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, who also worked on the original movie.
Following its theatrical run, the film became available on digital platforms for rental and purchase in late January 2026. Disney then released the movie on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K formats on March 3, 2026.
The film performed strongly at the global box office. It earned about $426 million in North America, while international markets added more than $1.4 billion. Altogether, the worldwide total reached about $1.85 billion.

The production budget was reported at roughly $150 million before marketing costs. During awards season, the film also received recognition and won the BAFTA award for Best Animated Feature.
Why Disney Offers Discounts Ahead of Major Releases
At first glance, offering a discounted subscription just before a major film premieres might seem counterintuitive. From a traditional supply-and-demand perspective, higher demand would suggest keeping prices high.
However, streaming platforms operate differently than theaters or physical media. Disney’s revenue comes primarily from monthly subscriptions, not individual tickets. The company benefits when it adds new subscribers, re-engages former subscribers, and keeps them active for multiple months.

Offering a lower price for a limited time can increase sign-ups just before a film like Zootopia 2 arrives. Even if some users cancel after the promotional period, many will remain subscribed long enough for Disney to recoup the discount. It also helps boost the subscriber base for other content on Disney+ and Hulu, increasing total viewership during the first quarter of the year.
The promotion targets people who are not already paying for Disney+. That means Disney gains revenue it would not otherwise earn, while existing subscribers continue paying full price.
Bundled Streaming Plans Remain a Key Strategy
Disney has increasingly emphasized bundled subscriptions across its streaming platforms. These bundles often combine Disney+ with services such as Hulu or ESPN+, allowing customers to access multiple platforms through one account.
The latest promotion focuses on the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle. Subscribers who select this plan watch advertising during programming. However, the lower price point can make the package more accessible to new users.

Bundles have become a central strategy across the streaming industry. Media companies frequently use them to increase subscriber numbers across several services at once. At the same time, these packages can help companies compete with other streaming platforms offering similar multi-service options.
Disney has also adjusted pricing for its streaming services several times in recent years. Those changes affected both standalone subscriptions and bundled plans.
Because of those increases, temporary promotions can serve as an incentive for viewers considering a subscription. They can also encourage former subscribers to return for a short period.

The arrival of Zootopia 2 on Disney+ highlights this strategy. The film joins the platform several months after its theatrical debut and shortly after its home media release.
For viewers who did not see the film in theaters, the streaming debut offers another opportunity to watch it at home. At the same time, the discounted bundle may encourage new users to explore Disney’s streaming services before the promotion ends on March 24, 2026.
