Disney will bring DuckTales World Showcase Adventure back to EPCOT in a modified format. The interactive experience remains under refurbishment, and Disney has not announced a reopening date.

The update follows the September 16, 2026, retirement of the Play Disney Parks app. The app supported the previous version of the EPCOT experience. Disney has confirmed that the attraction will return, but it has not yet explained how the modified version will operate.

DuckTales World Showcase Adventure Refurbishment

Disney’s current attraction page lists DuckTales World Showcase Adventure as being under refurbishment. The page also states that the experience may be available in a limited format and lists operating hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Disney has not provided a reopening date for the modified experience. The company also has not announced which technology will support the new version.

How the EPCOT Adventure Previously Worked

DuckTales World Showcase Adventure sent guests around EPCOT’s World Showcase to search for seven missing treasures. Disney’s current description calls them the “7 Lost Magic Treasures.”

The adventure involved Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby. Guests followed clues and completed missions in World Showcase pavilions while helping the characters recover the missing artifacts.

The seven participating pavilions were:

  • Mexico
  • Norway
  • China
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • France
  • United Kingdom

Disney continues to list all seven locations on its official attraction page.

The previous version used the Play Disney Parks app as its main interface. Guests received instructions and clues on their mobile devices as they moved between locations.

Each participating pavilion contained three assignments and a finale, with individual missions generally took about 25 to 30 minutes. Completing the adventures in the participating countries could unlock a final mission.

The game combined digital instructions with physical locations throughout World Showcase. Some missions required guests to interact with objects or locations within the pavilions. The game gave children a way to explore and learn throughout World Showcase.

What Disney Has Confirmed

Disney has confirmed that DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will return in a modified format. The company has not yet detailed the changes.

That leaves several questions unanswered. Disney has not announced whether the experience will use a replacement mobile app, another digital system, MagicBand+ or a different method.

There is also no confirmation that every mission from the previous version will remain. Disney’s current attraction page still describes the seven treasures and the seven participating pavilions, but it does not say whether those elements will remain unchanged after the refurbishment.

Disney has said that more information about the updated experience will come at a later date.

Play Disney Parks Retires

Play Disney Parks supported interactive experiences at Disney parks, including the previous version of DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. Disney retired the app on September 16, 2026.

Not every experience tied to the app has the same outcome.

Batuu Bounty Hunters, for example, continues to operate with MagicBand+ and interactive screens in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney has also retired the Star Wars: Datapad, which depended on the Play Disney Parks app.

DuckTales falls between those two situations. Disney has not simply ended the experience with the app. Instead, the company says it will return after modifications.

No Reopening Date Announced

Disney has not announced when DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will reopen. The confirmed details are limited to the experience’s continued refurbishment and planned return in a modified format. Disney has not announced the new technology, mission structure or reopening date.

Those hoping to resume their treasure hunt around World Showcase should stay tuned for more updates.
