With a heartfelt and introspective post on X, actress and former mixed martial artist Gina Carano opened up about her journey following a high-profile lawsuit legal settlement with Disney and Lucasfilm.
The post, shared on August 10, 2025, comes just days after the resolution of her wrongful termination lawsuit, marking what she describes as a significant weight lifted off her shoulders.
Thank you for all your requests for interviews. I just haven’t felt like my feet have landed in order to give proper respect to the conversation. I’ll do so when the time is right for me.

Accompanied by a casual selfie, Carano’s message touches on themes of gratitude, personal health, resilience, and moving forward after years of controversy.
Background on Gina Carano’s Controversy and Disney Lawsuit
Gina Carano, best known for her role as Cara Dune in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, was fired by Lucasfilm in February 2021 following a series of social media posts that drew widespread criticism.

One post, in particular, compared the treatment of conservatives in the U.S. to persecution in Europe during WW2. This prompted accusations of insensitivity and reportedly led to her dismissal. Lucasfilm stated at the time that her views were “abhorrent and unacceptable.”
The firing sparked a broader debate about free speech, cancel culture, and the entertainment industry’s handling of political opinions. Carano, a vocal conservative, claimed she was targeted for her beliefs and filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm in February 2024, alleging wrongful termination, sex discrimination, and retaliation.

The suit was notably backed by Elon Musk, who offered to fund legal efforts for individuals claiming discrimination on X.
The case progressed through federal court, with a judge denying Disney’s motion to dismiss in July 2024, allowing it to proceed.

However, on August 7, 2025, both parties announced a settlement. In a separate statements, they expressed a mutual interest in exploring future collaborations, with Carano stating she was “humbled and grateful” for the outcome.
The settlement details remain confidential, but it appears to have brought closure to what Carano referred to as a five-year “battle.”

Just hours before the settlement announcement, Carano posted a cryptic message: “… and the truth shall set you free.” This was followed by a more detailed statement thanking Musk, her legal team, and supporters, while expressing excitement for the “next chapter” in her career.
The Latest Statement: A Focus on Interviews, Healing, and Health
In her August 10th X post, Carano addressed the influx of interview requests she’s received since the settlement. She explained that she hasn’t felt ready to engage in such conversations, emphasizing the need to “give proper respect to the conversation” when the time is right for her.

The post then shifts to a personal reflection on the emotional toll of the past five years, describing the ordeal as a “battle” that affected not just her but her loved ones as well.
Carano shared poignant anecdotes, such as family members packing away Star Wars memorabilia like Baby Grogu toys and apologizing for visiting Disneyland or subscribing to Disney+.
She urged supporters to move on, declaring, “Healing is definitely happening now. No need to apologize to me for having Disney+ anymore 😂 PLEASE. I need to move on. Bring the Grogu’s out, I’m ok! I do believe positive change is happening.”

The actress also highlighted her resilience against criticism, stating she’s “immune to that heat now” after being “refined by fire.”
She touched on personal growth, including a significant health milestone: losing 50 pounds as part of her 2025 goal to reclaim her physical well-being after the stress of recent years.
Ending on a light note, she mentioned baking muffins before “diet starts Monday.”

This statement builds on her settlement announcement from August 7th, where she expressed gratitude and a desire to return to the arts. It appears to be the “another statement” referenced in discussions, focusing specifically on her readiness for media appearances.
Looking Ahead: Implications for Carano’s Career
Carano’s post signals a pivot toward healing and professional reinvention. While she hasn’t detailed upcoming projects, her emphasis on the arts suggests potential returns to acting, writing, or producing—possibly even with Disney, given the settlement’s forward-looking language.

Her involvement in independent films like Terror on the Prairie post-firing shows a path outside major studios, but the settlement could open doors previously closed.
The broader conversation around her case highlights ongoing tensions in Hollywood regarding political expression and corporate accountability. Backed by Musk, it also demonstrates X’s role in amplifying such disputes.
As Gina Carano embraces “all new lessons” in the wake of the Disney lawsuit, her story continues to resonate with those advocating for free speech, while serving as a cautionary tale for public figures navigating social media.

For now, she’s taking it one muffin at a time, seemingly grateful for the life ahead.

No mention of her previous stance of fighting to discovery, I’m sure she wishes the world would forget that fact but we won’t. I can’t speak for anyone but myself but I will never forget the promise made to drag disney through the muck and grime like they deserve, to get justice for not just herself but countless others the company has thrown to the wolves to satisfy the woke mob. She gave up, she let us and herself down.
Yeah, because being a martyr for the cause of getting “justice” for a bunch of ungrateful nerds means more than her own mental and physical health. Disney’s lawyers were able to drag this whole thing out for almost 5 years, and even with Elon’s billions backing her this would’ve went on for years to come, and if we’re being honest, nothing would’ve happened anyway. She took things as far as she could and didn’t want to deal with the stress anymore, and it obviously took a toll on her. Good for her for finally moving on and getting whatever she got from the House of Louse.
